BLOAT is killing your FPS

I always reinstall windows bc my fps gets so low but when its nothing on it i gets great fps but after downloading like 200gb of stuff i got low fps again is it the 200gb that kills my fps? I got 1tb so it should be fine?

My desktop has 0 shortcuts. Or it does have like 4 but i've hidden them. I use AtlasOS Playbook for Windows 11 with Rainmeter Big Sur RC1. And a hella pretty background image.
I woud call my computer 10/10 on the clean scale.

More powerful PC's are 100% less effected by this, which is good.
But for those with way lower power, like low range / low midrange will suffer a lot more than someone who has a latest gen / previous gen mid range / top of the line.

your just figuring this out? lol all background programs take up RAM, CPU usage and in some case VRAM. This should be well know to any PC non-noob

my fps was so bad that i was getting under 20 fps with 1000hz polling rate and after I completely reset windows I get 170 to 200 fps

Not sure why the surprise at so many apps restarting. Has been that way for many years. Since before 1998 I started disabling services, scheduled tasks, etc... used to try finding the best lists for disabling stuff for my specific needs (mostly gaming). I haven't felt the need to do that for quite a while since for the past several years now I've been building overkill PC's because I got so tired of tweaking shit all the time, overclocking, disabling stuff, and just wanted to brute force a smooth experience. Feels dirty though, so I might start tweaking again soon just to make myself feel better.

You don't test to see what is SSD is clean or dirty one the game is already running! You test it doing various things; opening up browsers and navigating to websites, opening up other applications, restarting the PC. The FPS change is not really noticeable by simple observation in game. The loading time and overall responsiveness of programs that you open WILL be more noticeable if you have multiple programs installed OR if you do NOT have multiple programs installed. The only way you can see a significant change in FPS in games is if you have multiple other applications open that are utilizing graphical based apps while at the same time trying to play the game (web pages loaded with videos or games or OTHER games loaded and running which are not browser based games).

My pc has a 3tb secondary hard drive and even thats running full

This only applies if you're CPU bottlenecked by buying a baller GPU. For most of us with real world budgets it makes far less difference since background processes aren't using the GPU.

Linus (and the team) please run these kind of tests on a humanly affordable machines and use a bit older hardware like an i5 10 or 11th and a GPU like 3060(still overkill for me😢)

Test they should do is the closer your SSD Drive gets full does your System run slower compared to SSD Drive that is less than 50% full?

a year ago i can play pubg in my potato pc i5 3470 gtx 1060 3gb with less fps drop and not hitting 100% cpu usage with medium settings now its freezing frame drops to single digits i notice this in other games also i re install windows multiple times and the outcome still the same i guess theres something wrong with w10 new updates or they are doing the dirty work and forcing us to upgrade both os and hardware hmmm

My background apps are just crazy… so many apps that aren’t even open run in the background…then if they are open there’s like a million files for each program open…

I just wasted 11 and a half minutes of my worthless life.

bloat wear also slows down computers. i had ibm t60 on windows 10 and it was so slow because it a ddr2 ram computer but had lenovo y500 on windows 10 which ddr3 laptop and runs fan., they both have intel core duo . on winodws 8.1 the t60 works fine and lower as there is less blotwear. but i want t60 on windows 10 to be as fast as be on windows xp. do you know any tools to delete all the blot ware
