Can anyone tell me if you can use this machine with a cheaper mic with 1/4 chords and will it give the same effect?

I just bought this (my vocals are very weak) so your tutorial/review was helpful. It's not a quiet device, which is a pain in the ass in practice sessions -- but . . . once it's dialed in, it gets my singing from poor to fair, which is an accomplishment. I haven't even tried the looper yet.
