For boomers and seniors, the market and economy are much tougher now. I'm used to just buying and holding stocks, but that doesn't seem to work well in this volatile market. Inflation is also hurting my portfolio. My biggest worry is if I can survive after retirement with only $300k.

(Method 1)
In New Tax Regime ITR filing (44ADA), if Net income by
Business is 4 Lacs
& LTCG is Rs 2 Lacs (due to redemption of old equity investment)
& STCG 0.95 Lacs (due to redemption of old equity investment)
means Total income marginally less then limit of Rs 7 Lacs SO NO TAX ?
OR
(Method 2)
In this case LTCG & STCG would be calculated separately ?
Means on Rs 2 Lacs LTCG -> Required to pay TAX @10% i.e. Rs 20,000/
And on Rs 0.95 Lacs STCG -> Required to pay TAX @15% i.e. Rs 1425/
And no tax on Business income of Rs 4 Lacs as under limit.
So total taxable amt Rs 21425/-
Or no tax??

Hello I have a bit of doubt in Tata Power(just an observation). Their EPS is 11.6 but their FCF is at -272..
Isn't that concerning??

Excellent analysis. But i don't get the part when you keep on saying that the goal is to beat Nifty. I think an investor should never set the bar so low because if Nifty is the benchmark then go ahead buy Nifty index fund, buy Nifty bees. There will not be any hours spent on research, analysis and micro-macro events. When one spend enough time then the bar should be raised higher, atleast 2x of Nifty. This is my personal opinion only.

There are quite a few MFs that give consistently 18%+ compounded returns over a 2-5 years period. Why would you spend so much time & energy into researching these stocks and not invest into MFs? I'd build my small case to aim 30%+ compounded returns over a 2-5 years period. If you're just managing expectations and actually building this small case to get 30%+ then say it. Be brave!

Can you please help me with this, I can't understand this like how to know that the valuation of a company is right?? We can't always tell that by watching the PE ratio and EVEBITDA, these doesn't always work right? Like the scrips from the defence sectors shot up like crazy, it was a frenzy considering the PSU sectors and corrections might happen, so how to understand when is the valuation right to enter into that stock? And there are some stocks like IHCL which trades at a premium, right, so how to differentiate and how to know that yes now the valuations look palpable?
