The movie (and the remake) Red Dawn was an awesome film from the ‘80s and ‘00s respectively, that explored the possibility of a Russian/Chinese (or Cuban) invasion. Great exploration of this hypothetical, but in the end, SPOILER ALERT, it was the private citizens that were a major impact and were able to fend off a full scaled invasion in most of the country. 🙌 ‘Mercia! 🇺🇸

The one geographic barrier being overlooked is the Great Plains. Literal hundreds upon hundreds of miles of basically nothing from the Mississippi/Missouri basin to the Rockies, a large part of which relies upon water wells. If crops were slashed & burned, trying to advance on Denver from the East would be like trying to advance on Moscow from the West.

Even if you accomplished a miracle and either made an amphibious or airborne landing on American soil you would immediately come under attack by civilians who would have a LOT of veterans and combat veterans among them.
