Wow, her corporate script memoriding is so admirable
ОтветитьThese charge centers are needed in the suburbs as well.
The charge centers could be placed along major highways in the suburbs so that they can serve both the local EV owners and the traveling EV owners.
With the extra space available at suburban locations they could include a dog walk, outdoor seating, a larger indoor lounge, more toilets, and a larger selection of food and beverage.
The charge centers should have attendants and an optional valet service to move the cars into and out of the charging stations. This will free up the EV owners to do other things while their car is charging, and they would be able to spend more time dinning and shopping at nearby businesses. Having a full-service charge center at a shopping mall, strip mall, and or downtown shopping district would serve as a foot traffic generator for the businesses in the mall or shopping district.
Seeing Imogen standing in front of that Bus reminded be of the "How many people can you fit in a VW Beetle" phase from yesteryear.
I wonder how many Imogens compared to how may Jacks you could get into an EV9 ?
The world needs to know! ;-)
its Not free charging , clickbait video
ОтветитьIt's not exactly Gridserve, but it's a start
ОтветитьThis is very similar to the gridserve electric forecourts.
ОтветитьWhat's the price per kWh outside of temporary incentives and offers?
ОтветитьMy god that box on wheels in the thumbnail is horrendous.
ОтветитьFor EA (and other providers) - while stations like this are great, especially for units near major long-haul highways, PLEASE put in at least one stall that can accommodate a vehicle towing a trailer! On larger installations like this, more than one! (I've been at a 10-stall EA where there were THREE vehicles with trailers all trying to charge without blocking other stalls or the aisle. And that was in an area where the only other CCS stations were lower-power 2-stall stations, further from the highway; and it was ~60 miles to the next high-power CCS station in either direction. And for the Tesla-fans, the only Superchargers in that area wasn't yet open to non-Tesla vehicles. And even now, the one Tesla open to non-Tesla vehicles in the area is only open to Ford & Rivian.)
ОтветитьIs Imogen conforming to the stereotype of small blonde women in gigantic SUVs? I hope she doesn't run over any cyclists . . . (as someone similar did to me a few years ago . . . )
ОтветитьThanks to diesel gate
ОтветитьAnother awesome video Imogen and Fully Charged Team....we absolutely need this in Victoria BC...l would love to purchase an EV but charging in Victoria is not easy ....sadly I can't charge at home so this would break the barrier to entry :)
ОтветитьA big upside to living in the US, when there's innovation like this, they primarily get it first... here in the UK, we might get it in 5-years.
ОтветитьAhahah ... this is just some PR from EA. EA is really the worst in terms of charging and my experience with them from SF to LA has been a straight disaster with stations broken all the time and everywhere. I had to switch from a CCS based car to a Tesla for actually getting a decent charging experience... and I was definitely not a Tesla fan. Before doing this kind of charging station, EA should better fix the issues happening at all the other stations: derated and broken chargers. I invite you on CA highway 5 to see what I mean. You can also watch “Out Of Spec Reviews” last video about CCS charging in LA and what Kyle thinks about it. Last but not least, the cost of kWh at EA stations has become outrageous compared to the Superchargers cost.
ОтветитьEA charging costs are friggin ridiculous. Literally charging almost 60 cents/KW when the local rate is only 10 cents 😡😡😡
No wonder they can afford this
8MW if all those chargers were on full chat. I guess they rely on some diversity (and that hardly any cars can do 350kW), so peak load is more like 2-4MW. Still quite a lot.
ОтветитьHow are the Electrify America Stations in West Virginia?
ОтветитьThese stations seem good for long distance journeys located on or near motorways/freeways but with much higher EV adoption in the future more kerbside /lamp post and communal car park AC chargers have got to be installed for city dwellers without off street parking and they need to be affordable comparative to domestic home charging.
Possibly part of a nationalised infrastructure otherwise those less well off will be penalised and further disincentivised from EV adoption which is most important in urban locations where air pollution is highest.
We had a lot of free charging options here in the Czech Republic in 2021-22. it was terrible, all those "Schmarotzer" residents who blocked the stations (often at shopping centres) the entire day - they organised each other so when one was finished the next was already waiting and took over. So no customer could use them. It brings out the bad in people.
Much better to have reasonable transparent prices publicly shown (as it is normal at gas stations) , to be paid by credit card and not hving to use dozens of stupid charging cards, apps, and pay vastly different prices depending on which card you can use. Today is still the wild west and needs to be mainstreamed.
I am lucky because with a Tesla that is so no problem, especially on long trips across Europe.
I suppose this is exactly what is the problem with electric cars, now let’s be clear, I drive a Mini Cooper ev, so when I comment this place makes my skin crawl, it is not that I dislike EV’s ( I love them) but spending forced time waiting in a service station is a nonsense…people are filthy, service station toilets stink, the vending machine stuff is over priced rubbish .. the lady then adds, they were offering free dog food, let’s add dog stench to the mix ! if I drive a distance, then it’s a fuel car, so I can spend time where I want, not trapped just tediously waiting for my car to charge … yes I have done it .. if you cannot charge at home, or do mega long distances daily get a diesel .. I get people need to buy ev’s to push the technology, but fuel has taken a 100 years to get where we are, ev tech is leaping forward, but it’s a shame swap out never got going, hydrogen likewise, this is the answer to everything, but for whatever reason hydrogen and organic fuels get over looked, hydrogen would have been a super easy green way of carbon reduction without all the hassle, suspect more money making opportunities in electricity 😊
ОтветитьImogen. Cool 😎
ОтветитьGreat to hear Rachel’s accent from Sydney, Australia.
ОтветитьI missed the mention that this video is sponsored by EA 🤣
ОтветитьWatched this but found it very light on real info. Just found Kyle’s 30 minute review of this facility. In the first few minutes gave more info about the in-house 24hr staffing and operations. Gets more technical info from a friend in the engineering dept. Less Sales guff. Imogen is good at presentation but behind the marketing patter charging is a technical issue. Yep EA has been bad and K has never been afraid to call them out. But equally says they’re turning it around. Now back to his video.
ОтветитьSuper Luxurious?! Are you serious? It's like a 90s style domestic airport lounge 😬
ОтветитьIt still baffles me that some developing countries like the USA haven't cottoned on to motorway service stations. I'm so glad that some ancient government decided to make those a legal requirement in the UK and I look forward to more of them getting proper updates. It's good to see something like this in the middle of a city though. Especially one that famously still has smog like it's London in 1952 before we decided that was unacceptable.
ОтветитьPerhaps a gym would also be a good idea
ОтветитьThat was the tories, we'll just have to wait and see what the budget says.
ОтветитьEA's downtime percentage for chargers is crazy bad btw also the prices at rhis station will probably be crazy high to subsidize the facilities and due to pg&e's scumbag electric rates not to mention how high some other ea chargers are especially in california
ОтветитьFree electricity and exclusive parking for having an EV. FU
ОтветитьWe're all here for Imogen 😂
ОтветитьJesus loves you, Peace!
ОтветитьHopefully this project will help break the ice in San Francisco to push forward more EV charging, and be an advocate for cutting red tape to make this all happen yesterday. Go go go!!!!
ОтветитьShe could use all the free space they have for mall parking, resturants parking, like all shops that aren't in a mall, though if they improved walking between locations, they wouldnt need a waiting area. nice idea though, maybe alternative forms of transport would be better
ОтветитьShe’s so incredibly hot. I hope that’s still ok to say with so many people infected with the woke mind virus around. I lost track of what we’re allowed to say and what we’re not…
ОтветитьFacility great. Presentation great. Not a fan of the huge EVs on display at this station though. Especially the EV9. Definitely not saving the world with their efficiency.
ОтветитьLooks interesting
Don't understand the trend where everyone is finding everything "Super"
There are plenty of other useful words that can be used in the English language ........
I hope it's a trend that ends super quickly 🥴
Unless there is a government program that pays most of the cost of buying an EV, only the rich will be buying them.
When/if the cheap $8K Chinese EVs make it to Canada, then I'll buy one.
With American auto manufacturers being ran like Mafia, I doubt they'll make it here.
How much can they make on an $8k car? They can make double that, by selling these $30K+ battery banks.
Look people... the free charging is NOT the problem. As always it's bad people. Charge to 80% and move on when people are waiting.
To say the "free" is the problem is half thinking the issue.
We don't just need solutions for dense urban environments. We need solutions for non-dense rural environments where there are also multi-user dwellings, and many houses that have no parking, front right onto the streets and sometimes don't even have pavements.
Ответитьour EA charging area is in a Walmart parking lot, no cover, no security, one didn't work. I think the charging for Kia is 1000 kw or 3 months, then you pay.
ОтветитьGreat video Imogen, really interesting id like to see these EV lounges in the UK. Top job keep it up 👍🏻
Btw my wife loves your style and wants to know where you got the khaki jacket from in this video - apologies for my non EV related question
Why aren't they putting charging stations at gyms? I'd imagine a larger percentage of people who own electric vehicles would go to gyms. So charge your car while working out.
ОтветитьPlease come and Electrify Australia!
ОтветитьCome see my experience with my Nissan leaf ! Happy travels
ОтветитьSan Francisco has zero curbside charging stations, and zero privately owed charging stations in front of businesses (beyond this EA station) that can be used overnight. As a multifamily resident living in San Francisco with an EV and without charging at home, the options for charging my car all suck. No, I don't want to sit in my car for two hours at this EA flagship station. I want to be able to leave it at a L2, walk home, and walk back 8 hours later to pick it up.
ОтветитьChange Total Cost of Ownership to Complete Financial Impact
ОтветитьDo you have onsite armed security?
