I was so pissed when watching All quiet on the western front, the original film was the perfect war film, and the simplest and not overly violent and emotionally captivating it's just the right amount of everything, it's a great watch especially for a black and white old film, both of the remakes were awful and not at all worth the watch and completely miss the point of the original film

My favorite part was the part when one of the Everything Everywhere directors named the teachers that inspired him as opposed to the ones who told him he can’t do it, it was just wholesome.

All quiet on the western front is about how useless war is and altho many other movie do do this all quiet on the western front definetly portrays this in the best way. The film is ment to be antiwar and what most other war films unfortuntly do is make war seen heroic when in fact its just a pretty much pointless conflict that is created for the rich and powerfull to gain what they want. As for all quiet on the westerns front score its not the best but its still very good

Little late to the party but I think people tend to not think comedic performances are also oscar worthy performances. Hence Jamie Lee Curtis winning. It’s a role that she’s never done before and she took a character that could’ve been largely forgettable and made her one of the most standout moments in the entire film. Even though she didn’t have much screen time. She even had a small emotional arc like all the other characters as well that was surprisingly very touching. To me, her win was very justified, although I do agree that Stephanie Hsu would’ve been a better choice.

Just want to quickly point out that the movie is not actually called "All quite on the western front" aka this is an inacurate translation from itd german title.
The title should be "No news from the west" refering to the slow and grinding trench warfare of WW1.

I think All Quiet on the Western Front deserved its wins. It’s not some, “standard war movie,” the battle scenes are literally horrifying and gruesome. The score also sells every moment making it feel real. Plus Germany usually doesn’t win anything at the Oscars so it was nice.
