Lady how many animals do you think hunters let get away after they have been shot?.. it's not even a full percentage of a point.. the number is so ridiculously low that you are full of poo.. and lead accumulates in the brain causing neurological damage.. you don't cure or treat that.. so again you're full of poo

I have told this story a few times. My wife and I bought a house that was next to a stream and we had 2.5 acres. I am an animal guy, I have rescued cats from war zones. Anyway, w e have a house with a pet door installed in the garage, and it is heated. Have a dog house in the corner heated as well. I am in this corner with some shelves and I hear a loud hiss. Scared the crap out of me. It's a Opossum, he's just sitting there. I pick him up, put him into the dog house, and bring him food and water. This was during the winter. He got so used to me he would follow me around outside while I took care of the house. He would let me pet him and he loved to be brushed. When spring came he would leave, but he would still come up and sit on the back porch, he was fine with our 5 cats. This went on for about 5 years. Then 1 day i noticed a smell. Went and looked in his doggy house and he had passed away. I pulled him out, said some things that were meaningful from me to him. That very day a person bought the house next to us. It was raining and I wrapped him up, out in the dark with a head lamp on, digging a hole and my new neighbor shows up. It was not the best moment, I had been crying, and also had a few, and my New Neighbor ask if I had killed my wife. Like I was burying her in the middle of the night during a rain storm. I said it was pet opossum. I pulled back the rug and he got the truth. For a long time I never understood what this guy might have thought moving into a new home, and during a rain storm seeing your neighbor burying a body in the back yard.

Believe it or not but they are very affectionate and love to have a lot of attention I have had several for pets found them in the woods as babies abandoned usually there is something wrong with the baby never had one bite me either

I adore opossums. I leave food out for the ones I see out my window. Life is hard for all the little guys when it gets cold and food is scarce. Opossums serve a great purpose. 0bviously they are scavengers and clean up dead things but they also are tick eaters. They can eat around 4000 ticks in a week. I put food out for them in the winter so they know they are welcome around my house. They also can not carry or contract rabies due to their body temperature. They are awesome animals. Last opossum tidbit for today. They are the only marsupials in North America. Super cool animals that need to be helped & respected for all the bug eating they do if for no other reason.

Bless you sweet and beautiful lady. I adore opossum and would love to one day be able to do rescue orphaned opossum babies as you do. I have a dear friend who rescues baby raccoons and they are just as adorable. Keep doing what you are doing because the world need more wonderful people like yourself.

If I'm not mistaken, they constantly snore or make wheezing noises while sleeping. Doctors could probably learn a thing or two from possum noses.

❤🥰👍 I saw a possum hit by a truck in front of me out in the country. And I immediately pulled over and she was dead but I checked her pouch and she had nine perfectly healthy babies. So for the third time I got to be a mama possum. So many people think they can eat anything. It doesn't mean it doesn't hurt them and it's not what they need. If you see a possum with really bulgy eyes on the sides. It's from lack of vital nutrients like calcium. If they were on a prime rib diet everyday, they would end up with metabolical bone disease in just a couple days because there is no calcium in a diet. I put all 9 of my little babies in a huge container and I went out brought a pan back in with dirt bark walked in the kitchen 2 minutes and they were all standing with a little tails up in the air and all 9 are going potty in their potty pan.

My first wife thought that opossums came dead in the road. She’d never seen a live one, only the ones that had been hit and killed so in her mind that’s how they came. This was how her brain worked and no she’s not a blonde, just blonde brained. If her and Zack, from The Big Bang Theory had gotten together and had kids they’d have had a negative IQ score. 😂

Had them as pets! The most gentle animals! They just don't like loud noises! Very sensitive to loud sounds! Wow thats a load of Jacks & Jills

Opossums are terrific animals. If they are visiting your yard, be sure to leave water out for them. They are very clean and they eat snails and ticks. There's no downside to them hanging around.
