It won't take time for truck drivers to get used to the tesla way. Those giant screens in the cockpit are not for entertainment, they're for real business. The number of cameras and sensors on the truck will almost almost double the ones presently on their sedans (model S,3). The only issue I think we'll have is the range, and that will also improve over time, battery technology is improving at the speed of light.

Everything you are saying about the trucking concept is correct, and the Tesla, Electric truck is new to the trucking world!, One of the things Elon, did not talk about, is how well his electric truck, will do when it runs into some of these hills with an 80.000 lb load of lets say, lumber way out in the middle of "No Where"???? All by yourself self and "You Run Out of "Electric-Power"? Where do the charging stations sit way out in some of those hidden places? Truckers have to pick up loads of lumber or have to deliver freight, To some small business Man, or Woman, Who need to their loads of freight delivered with "No-Damage" or Excuses??? This "Idea" is good But "Diesel Trucks"! Have already proven their "Value" So "Electric" Trucks are going to have to prove, They can handle the work already proven by the Diesel trucks already out on the road "NOW"!

If Tesla can build a truck with similar or greater performance characteristics than the current or near future European and North American trucks, driving range, reliability, payload, driver comfort and amenities,..., then that will be fantastic. I will believe it when I see it.

As for the mirrors, I watched the ceremony and I though he mentioned the mirrors are replaced by wide angle cameras that are viewed on the two large screens either side of the steering wheel.

Does everybody forget where electric comes from? Its far from a clean process itself regardless of the wind turbines and other means of generating electric. Do you really think with all of these vehicles changing to electric that we could keep up with the demand that is required. Im all for changing things that improve the way we live but i dont think electric vehicles is the answer, not when we are pushing production of such vehicles before weve put in place the means to generate the extra load of electric thats going to be required. As i said im not against improvement but theres too many who seem eager to jump into a cooking pot of problems

I think the Tesla-semi will change the short range market. Like day cabs and short dedicated routes. It may not be the entire market for semi trucks, but who cares? It's not every day someone takes over the entire trucking industry for the country in one fell swoop.

Electric vehicles are simple machines. There's only about 3 components that can fail. The electric engines, circuitry and off course batteries...

If you can find the drag coefficient for an BMW X3 2018 then you can also find it for a Bugatti. Now we are talking about the BMW X3, the older model, 2017 has a drag coefficient of 0.36, the same as a Tesla Semi.

Now, in regard of the new Tesla yeah you got there, I am not sure how exactly this seat in the middle of the cab is gonna work, going forward I see no problem but going in reverse that is another story, tiny small street like in England, Japan well, but on the plus side, having the steering wheel in the middle then you don`t have to worry about driving this truck in countries like Japan or England as you know left driving side or right driving side that I think is a plus for Tesla, my other question is will Tesla offer day cab tractor for local delivery beverage I am sure you seen this truck in America they are very popular, any idea?
