Adsorption chromatography is based on attraction (adsorption) between adsorbent and sample molecules. The term "Adsorption" points to a process in which one molecule interacts with another molecule and sticks at its surface. Different molecules interact with the adsorbent's molecules via different interactive forces. which in the case of polar substances are dipole-dipole attractions. In the case of non-polar substances are van der walls forces. For more details, watch the video.
