Here's one that has been rattling around in my head...but I'm not sure if it's beneficial to marketing:

My post office box key is made by a company called "Aggressor", and the side profile of the key resembles an erect penis with scrotum. I wonder what they are trying to say, there? 🤔

All thoughts initiate in the unconscious even days before we think of them consciously. That’s where coincidence and deja vu come from. Our unconscious directed us towards tgst before we were ever consciously aware.

I pointed this out to my parents and they mocked me, then i realised how easy it is to manipulate people to do/buy things

I like to think I’m fairly resistant to these things. I’m probably not, but thinking I am keeps me from acknowledging how terrifying this is. And I have enough to worry about without remembering how creepy big companies are.

At the very least I don’t really get worn down by stores. Through the power of autism I just get foggy after a long time in a store (happens after any extended period of time around a lot of noise). I’m still fully able to make rational decisions, it’s just difficult to focus, and I’m likely to just completely zone out for several seconds.

Well its marketing failed as I don't buy fizzy drinks anymore since 1995. My stomach just can't endure them and I am thankful for that. 😊 Dont eat and never had Cheetoes whatever they are 😂 I dont drink alcohol as its smells off and I would rather clean the toilet with it. Snickers can't have them due to nuts. Alot of what he had on the table is useless to me and not many British things. I didn't recognise it was alot US which was possibly why.🤔

Shopping malls lose out with me unless my daughter takes me otherwise I have no need to go to a shopping mall. I have to know exactly where I am heading and what I am buying, how much it will cost and I know how many times I will use the product so its not tiring at all. Just be specific and intentional thats all with your shopping. 😊

The "wearing down" trick totally works on me, but in the opposite way. The decision fatigue typically makes me just say forget it all and leave without buying anything lol.

None of these tricks ever worked on me. Ive always found ads annoying, since childhood. Maybe because Im autistic, and all those “cues” dont work on my brain 😅 all my purchases have always been very intentional and conscious.

When I go to the grocery store, I have a list and I know exactly where I'm going. I can't remember the last time I made an impulse purchase. For some reason, I'm pretty immune to advertising. I'm not the only one, of course. I wonder what make brains like mine different?

"Apples contain key nutrients, including fiber and antioxidants. They may offer health benefits, including lowering blood sugar levels and benefitting heart health."
An apple is around 100 calories. A chocolate bar is basically "junk food" with practically no health benefits... and usually come in at around 200 calories. It may take around 5 minutes to eat an apple... if you eat it quickly. It takes around 30 seconds to eat a chocolate bar... if you eat it slowly. Most people are still hungry after eating a single piece of candy.
"You can't always get what you want... but if you try sometimes, you may find you can get what you need."

I hate supermarkets. Even just looking in from the entrance is so much sensory overload it makes me dizzy. I usually go in with a list to pick up what i need and get out as soon as i can and it's hell if they rearrange. Thankfully you can usually ask the staff where to find something.

Some of the info here isn't exactly true, and some are outright false. For instance, the watches set at ten-past-ten has nothing to do with mimicking a smile. It is the accepted position of the minute and hour hands so that all print, date window, and subdials on the watch dial are optimally visible.

2.07 the apple every time...I hate sweets, cake, fizzy pop but love fruit, veg, homemade vegan food, freshly baked bread, some hummus, guacamole or another yummy salsa🤤 sweets/processed sugar gives me too much of a high and a low-low...berries (no added sugar) are better

The Coke can smiling at you? 10 past 10 = the watch is smiling at you? I think this is "after the fact" marketing for marketing's sake. The client commenting "Gee, I never thought of that". The marketer gets to bill for something they never did and nobody else recognized. Brilliant!

The new bullshit is EV cars....they made the average stupid people think they can save the world buying something. Especially, something that has 3 times more metal/minerals than the other option and the smoke people doesn't see coming out of its pipes is being released through the factory chimney or coal power plants.
What a non sense.

Grocery shopping. You make a list. You buy what's on the list. You also inform yourself of prices ahead of time and keep track. You read ingredients. Even better, you buy potatoes instead of potato products. So - no.

oh .. what a bad customer I am, purchasing plan printed out on the PC, with box for normal price and quantity requirement. Contents: all groceries for the monthly requirement..The order is set up according to the supermarket structure and the goods locations......when I go to the checkout, in the end there is only what was ticked on the list in the trolley.. ... and that's how I've been doing it for ages
Products that are advertised on the radio/internet/TV are almost never part of my purchase.

I dunno. I really like the Coca-Cola brand (I have old Coke tin signs, coke pint glasses, coke lunchboxes, etc), but I buy WAY more Pepsi, because I prefer the taste, especially of their special flavors (different Mountain Dews flavors, Mango Pepsi, Wild Cherry Pepsi, etc). I also drink diet pop more often, and diet Pepsi flavors are more diverse.

I'll have a glass bottle of coke once a year, and every 6 months or so my partner and I will get a 12-pack of cans to satisfy a craving.

But I'll never admit it face to face. I'm a Coke gal.
