so basically homelessness is illegal because they didn’t mention loitering so I’m assuming his crime is not having a home

Ultimate debasement

That vagrant REALLY should've vacated that spot for two very important reasons. One was that he was more than adequately warned by Dredd. Second was that heeding the warning and clearing out would've saved the vagrant's life since he picked one of the worst places to loiter: under a blast door. Any place that can easily crush a living being is not someplace you should fall asleep in.

He found out about being defiant.

This is taking the term 'Slammer' a little literally.

I say that probably a case of the person not mentally sound enough to comply with the law. Not dangerous. But there was a reason that was illegal.

Love this part and when he yells “shit!” before the miniguns open fire on him. Shows he’s still a person and not a brick wall

The guy might’ve wanted to be arrested. Life in an iso-cube would suck, but three weeks of food and shelter was probably better than what he usually had.

Maybe he assumed it would be better to be in an iso-cube. He would have shelter, food, and a bed. He didn't know the door would crush his dreams.

That was an open and shut case for Dredd.

I can imagine all the great scenes like this you could put into a Dredd TV series. Hope it happens some day.

I like how well Karl varied his voice as Dredd depending on situation. The perp at the start, he's emotionless, almost hunting.
During his "I am the Law" speech later on, his fury is audibly boiling under the surface, noted by a low growl in the voice.
Here, his tone is somewhere in the neighborhood of Nice, at least for a Judge. Basically saying, "leave and I'll forget I saw you. Take the deal." On return, tone is still reasonable, but stern. "I didn't want to bother with you, now I have to."

A decade later still awesome movie and still waiting for the sequel.

People think that we will never get a Dredd Sequel but they are wrong. Our real lives are the real sequel...

Everyone's like, 'Oh Dredd being lienient', its because he probably didn't need to deal with a misdemenor if he would go away on his own with a warning as any cop would do. As a cop would say 'Not worth the paper work.'

This was honestly one of rhe best cyberpunk movies

Honestly I’m more focused on the fact that the hobo chose what was probably the only dangerous spot to set up in. Like two feet to the left or right and he would be fine, but no he wants to chill under the blast doors. Dude wanted to die.

What would happened if dredd walked slightly quicker, he would have been outside when the doors closed and mamas plane would have sucked so bad

I love how angry Dredd is at the vagrant for not taking his chance to leave. You can just hear in his voice that he’s pissed.
