Pinnacle Studio 16 How To Do Text Overlay

Does anybody know how to put a black background bar behind the text so any background light doesn't affect the text? I'm adding subtitles to videos and there are some scenes that are just too bright no matter what I do....

You're a life saver, thank you. I had always had my video clips on the top track then put the titles on the 2nd track, and wondered why they wouldn't overlap. Now, after watching that, I've swapped them over, and bingo - job done.

I have a real problem adding text to the track above my media. When I place the text layer on the track above my media I cannot get the program to play. It just freezes where I dropped the text. If I take it back to the beginning and hit play it skips forward to where I place the text and stops.
Any help will be appreciated.

Can you enter text without any media in the timeline? Make a title cover?

when i click on that fvcking text it write ''text wasn't found in instaled pack'' or that something :/
