Earliest memory of my Dad was him returning from work boiler scaling in the London Docks, taking off his boiler suit in the scullery, washing in cold water and a bit of warm from the Ascot and putting on his only suit, white shirt and tie and shining his shoes before walking down the road to the Lamb in Milton Road, Plaistow E13.
