When the ham radio test is allowed by internet, ham radio will go the way of 11 meters. Lawless, undisciplined. Totally destroyed.
ОтветитьBtw, you absolutely can talk skip on CB - guys have been doing it for ages. You can also get Single Sideband on some CB's which effectively triples your transmit power 12w vs 4w on AM/FM.
ОтветитьI believe that you should explain the difference between FRS and GMRS
ОтветитьSo no mention of any of the Japanese radios such as Yaesu, iCom or Kenwood? Stop hawking the Baofengs and other Chinese radios to the new hams! You are doing them a disservice by doing this. Sure, the price point of those radios is highly attractive, but they come with a much steeper learning curve. Many of the programming functions are built into the firmware on the Japanese radios while they must be entered manually with the cheaper radios. There also seems to be an ongoing issue with programming cables for the Baofengs that doesn't exist with the Japanese radios.
ОтветитьWhat if there is no internet, no electricity?
Ответитьwhat if you broadcast from a country with no fcc?
ОтветитьGreat presentation, I didn't nod off once
ОтветитьHe has a speed of explaining that I can actually understand .. good job
ОтветитьIt's not broadcasting - it's transmitting. **
Ответитьthis is extremely interesting
ОтветитьI think you underestimate the ability of CB radio single side band.
ОтветитьIs a waste of time here's a simple way to do things get a satellite telephone their cheap talk time is cheap can you call anywhere in the world
Ответить"different" *alternative
"words" *terminology
LMFAO XD
You spelled that wrong. Lol you wrote ufh. Not uhf
ОтветитьI like your presentation. And the drawing glass .. good stuff .
ОтветитьQuestion, these baofeng radios say 136-174 MHz for example, but the Ham bands for the 2M is 144.0-148.0 MHz. So is it legal to use those other frequncies outside of the 144-148? Please explain. Thanks!
ОтветитьThis is by far the most informative video put out by TREX Arms. Please make more like this.
ОтветитьThis is such a great video with easily understandable information. Great breakdown. Thank you.
ОтветитьHAM here KI5LSZ. Great informative video. We have a very similar net down here with my trusted group. One set of frequencies not mentioned that are a licensed required set is GMRS. It's pretty nice because the license doesn't require a test and only costs $70 with the FCC. Also only one license is required per family and lasts for 10 years between renewals. I've programmed my groups radios with CHIRP software to monitor only on HAM, Marine, analog Police/Fire backup and NOAH frequencies, but can transmit on FRS, GMRS and MURS. GMRS is also gaining a lot of popularity because many repeaters have been set up that are shared through several networks.
ОтветитьOnline HAM tests are a pain due to security they require to make sure you are not cheating
ОтветитьGood stuff bro
🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Technical knowledge about radios, communications, etc., is VERY IMPORTANT!
You won't know which equipment to buy or use without having the knowledge to use it.
i didnt know radio frequencies were very restrictive
ОтветитьGreat Video! Exactly what I was looking for!
ОтветитьThanks for the vid
ОтветитьI have been involved in emergency communication since my 14 year old self was put in the next control spot of our home club trailer full of gear and the local military looked in and said we don't need anymore radios these guys have got it done. So I have been organizer and net control FOR 2 meter Nets that interface with the Red Cross and local police, and was the net control for the net the Turk information from the Caribbean about oncoming hurricanes another weather information which were we relayed to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. All this experience tells me that ham radio in America is not very effective for emergency communication primarily because of poor organization and interagency connections
I don't know what RAYNET does in the UK. The American ARRL did and courage emergency communication. What I have found in the last 20 years that hams in America have virtually no position and stateside assistance. Unless hams are fully integrated where is local intercommunication they help AMS can offer is not much and often resented by the other emergency agencies. Without very tight organization American hams should stay home and just listen to whatever service play think or give them information that they may want. The best thing in American ham can do during a domestic emergency is stay off the air and do not travel to any location to offer additional help I could give a more detailed answer but it would take a full length essay.
Don't turn on your transmitter except when your friend hopes to hear you on that hour.... If you just transmit at random the bad guys can hear you more likely. Find out in advance the EMS emergency medical frequencies and know them by heart. If you broke your leg calling an EMS for help on their frequency is the likely route. Remember when you announce to EMS where they need to be by an address or an intersection the bad guys will know right where to go to grab hey bag of antibiotics.... Try to help EMS remain secret as long as possible.
ОтветитьVery well done. I just ordered a Baofeng AR-152 . I plan on getting my ham license .
ОтветитьCan you pin and weld the antennae so you can use FRS frequencies with the Baofeng?
ОтветитьSerious question for T-Rex Arms industries!!!
In another video y’all go over some of the base line utilities and uses and how to’s for ATAK or versions similar… y’all mention in that video that those devices can coordinate with ATAK similar systems and that y’all are “WORKING ON SOMETHING” are y’all still currently working on that project and if so can we please get a follow up on that? I’m asking on behalf of many people in a certain community who want to know but don’t want their name out. May we please have a follow up even if it isn’t good news? Very respectfully please and thank you sir.
Wait so the same company that says olight bad is saying get a beofang 😂
ОтветитьAs a gun enthusiast who's also a HAM operator I really appreciate how clear, technical, educational and overall informative this video is about radios and how you should operate them
ОтветитьIf you don't want to get your ham license, get gmrs license
ОтветитьWow. Just wow!
Thank you sir!
I came here from CR.
ОтветитьWhat’s your opinion on a small security tactical group radios with some encryption? Like what should I get for that?
ОтветитьAAAAAAAA FINLAND
Ответить🤔 He forgot about gmrs
ОтветитьSarcasm oozing out of every pore👍
Ответить“Not to scale” 😂
ОтветитьI'm a ff/paramedic for a large metro city and the only thing I know about radios is that we use repeaters for our shitty Harris radios and like 4 channels out of the dozens available and even then it's 70/30 on if they're going to be effective tools. I have no idea what was talked about but I'm intrigued to learn more. I can say this; in the event of a national black out I wouldn't be too reliant on public safety
ОтветитьWOW, Isaac! Your presentation was great. It is not so much about what equipment to buy, but what you what/plan to do is the first step in helping one to decide what equipment is needed.
Thank you.
Nice work Isaac. I’m a 70 year old ex USN radioman who misses HF from the old days. I was stationed in Christchurch NZ in 1975 and tasked with maintaining comms between Antarctica (McMurdo station) and the rest of the world. Your channel brings back great memories - thanks.
ОтветитьWhy has the word TACTICAL been made a MIL/LE only word... Look up the definition. Has a lot more to do with whats going on inside your head than whats going on inside your hands. Great video!
