what is the advantage of connecting the audio interface to the mixer since the audio interface alone can be used and connected directly to laptop for recording?

Hi, I was researching the Mackie 402VLZ4 as an option to add a couple more XLR microphones to my GOXLR Mini Setup via the Line In of the Go XLR Mini. Do you know if the Mackie 402VLZ4 has enough gain to drive a Shure SM7b or SM58 mic? I believe it is advertised as having Onyx Preamps with up to 60db gain. On my Go XLR Mini, I have to set the gain to 65db to drive the SM58 adequately, but I know the advertised gain numbers on many of these units cannot be directly compared.

The gain and main mixer here isn’t being used right. The main isn’t set at Unity but adjusted based on the lights and the gain is adjusted using the clip light

Start the main mix at 0 so you can see the gain to not clip by test singing/rapping then continue performing and raise the main mix to before it turns yellow.

I currently use the Behringer Xenyx QX1202usb but when I got to the sound card M-Audio M-Track 2x2 (C-series) the voice changes pitch in my live on streamyard... any idea how to fix that??? If I use the Mtrack alone doesn't happen but I want to add instruments and more mics that is why I use the mixer... when I use the mixer usb alone, I can't hear the invite on our stream not sure why... help please!!!

why not bypass the mixer and go straight to the audio interface if its just vocals?

Would be interesting for you to test small mixers, which ones have less noise, better eq, or compression

What sound sources on windows do u pick have your mixer work in tandem with your interface? At the moment I can only operate the interface and the mixer separately. So if my interface is my default source my mixer doesn’t work with the mic and vice Versa, but my mic will still work on its on with either the mixer or the interface just not together. What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks

Why -20dB in the Recording Software? Did you not give away signal-noise-ratio at your recording by this? Ah ok you "hum" with costant signal noise in your micro which shows on your mixer 0dB and have +20dB till clipping. In recording software you have -20dB. That means you have also 20dB Space cause clipping begin there at 0dB. Ok i understand. The "hum" i hear first at second hearing your video. My Denglish is not perfect 🤣

Why use a mixer at all? Adding anything to the signal chain introduces noise and the opportunity for signal degradation. Why not just plug the mic directly into your audio interface? Any EQ is going to be handled by the software anyway.

When you go to a venue, do you simply have the engineer connect the 1/4 jacks into the inputs of the balanced/ unbalanced inputs of their mixer to get a clean signal into the audio interface into the DAW?

You mix with the level not with the gain. That's how you avoid distortion

So this would be the way to go if you want to connect a record player as well? I have an Apollo Solo that has two inputs. One for my microphone, so I can't connect my record player. On the other hand, I don't want switch all the time between the two. Is what you showing the way to go, or is there an other simple way to do this?

Can I connect mixer just for listening to have something like hw equalizer? I'm using Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

Can you please do one of these but for connecting an interface to a mobile phone so that the phone's video can get its audio from the interface? This way someone can make a video of a live keyboard/dj performance with high quality audio.
