While I don't believe in reclaiming all and sundry temples that were demolished to build mosques, I do subscribe to his argument on intra vs inter community/ religion issues.
If the argument is why should the present day Muslim be harassed for the wrongs of occupier rulers of the historical era, I would ask the same question as to why should the present day citizen be penalised and made to forgo equal opportunity for the caste bias and atrocities perpetrated by somebody in the historical times?
If the argument of reparation for emancipation of the oppressed is taken, it should apply to the Muslims as well for centuries of oppression of Hindus.
If it is a case of the minority being forgiven and made to feel comfortable by the majority, it should apply to the so-called forward castes because they are also a minority.
Reparation and magnanimity cannot be a one way street especially in the constitution which proclaims equality in all respects
