Nice sir thank you
ОтветитьThis lad is a good instructor. Besides breaking things down slowly and progressing gradually, he has EXCELLENT vocal interpretive skills. When I was his age, all we had -- I know, I know, "I walked two miles in ten feet of snow to my drum lesson" -- was a record that we had to raise and lower the needle a thousand times to figure out parts like those double-stroke fills mother-effers like Ian Paice were doing on Deep Purple tunes. Later, it was cassettes and then when CDs came about, we thought THAT was high tech. Cheers, lads. At 65, I still practice 2 to 4 hours EVERY day.
ОтветитьI have watched some of your videos now, and as a Swede I recognize much. Might be stuff that is common in Sweden? You have great explanations and teach very well! In "the shuffles every drummer should know" I do count in some blues shuffles (I have mainly played the blues). ZZ top with La Grange is interesting. He only does the shuffle with his left hand. His right hand goes straight on the highhat. The playing on the rim-thing, also has a shuffle feeling to it. Since it goes kind of fast, it is difficult to hear what he actually plays, but variations are possible. Anyways, I think drummers should know some blues shuffles too. All the best and keep up the good work!
Ответитьthank you so much for this video
ОтветитьMight I add that all the comments so far have been exceptionally dead on and astute. Thx brothers and sisters, taking time to comment, sharing their expertise and insights
ОтветитьI thought it was very instructional. Minor suggest that prior to starting a groove while showing the notation, orally do the count adding all parts singing. Kind of like Burnie was doing that video
Ответитьawesome vid thanks !
ОтветитьDidn’t realise how hard the purdie shuffle really is. Thanks for the vid
ОтветитьYou are a born teacher . Very clear and clean explanations. BTW< You really do sound like the greats you mentioned and then some.
Ответитьand you play music sometimes ?
ОтветитьI learned alot of u brother 😊
ОтветитьBEast!
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьI love your explanations. Also in other videos. Thank you very much
ОтветитьInsightful video. In Bernard’s video I love it when he says: “ Don’t worry bout da ghost notes! Ain’t nuttin but rebound!” Lemme splain sumtin to ya! Great shuffle demo. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьLove these shuffles. Gotta work on them asap!
ОтветитьPurdie makes me wanna sing Rosanna 😄
Ответить... now can we get a spelling out for his groove on the song "Good by girl" ?
Ответитьthanks man' I already had the foot work right , but seeing it spelled out as you have done for us , I am just going to have to put in a lot of practice to get the hi hat & ghost licks on the snare right !
Ответитьgood videos!!!!
ОтветитьThis is the best shuffle lesson I've ever seen! Well done and explained, bro!
ОтветитьWow! I'm from Texas and I'm very proud that we actually have a shuffle named after us! :) I always just called it a shuffle, I guess since I'm FROM Texas. I mean, I never really added the "Texas" part. I guess it's like Old Fashioned Oatmeal. I doubt it was called "Old Fashioned" back in the old days. They probably just called it Oatmeal. Just like I called it a Shuffle. Oh well. Good day everyone!
ОтветитьJohn Coghlan was the best rock&roll shuffle drummer listen to Status Quo albums from the seventies
Ответить“What are you doing with your life?…” haha! Love it!…… Subscribed….🤩🤘
ОтветитьVery nice! 👏 Great explanations. Love the breakdown and gradual step up to tempo. Nice work! Tasty groove too ( Bass player here 😎🤘)
ОтветитьA great example of the 12/8 purdie is Aaron comess on spin doctors “hard to exist”. He studied with Purdie back in the late 80s.
ОтветитьLOVE the sound of your snare.
ОтветитьSnare sounds delightful
ОтветитьReally fab insight into the various shuffles by breaking them down and thanks for sharing. Great playing and the tight but resonant drum sounds and clear Paiste cymbals sound really good (I mostly use Paiste 2002 and Signature).
Regards from a 67 year old 1/2 Danish drummer (hence my surname ... Lassen) based in the UK.
Complimenti per la tua professionalità
ОтветитьHeyy Swedish,.... that's awsome,,,,,!
ОтветитьU. Best of best❤❤❤
ОтветитьReally tasty stuff. Absolutely gorgeous. Brilliant video. Thank you. 😀👍🏻👏🏻
ОтветитьNice to🎉
ОтветитьFantastic Tutorial!!
ОтветитьGadd does a nice shuffle basically duplicaing the groove with both hands. Right on a ride the left on snare. Nice thick sound. Gadd does alot of nice things
Ответить❤
ОтветитьThank you so much for this
Ответить12/8 means 12 beats in a measure eighth note gets1 full beat,in your notation you have i measure with 18 eighth notes, this shuffle is either in 18/8 or would probably be written as 2 measures of 9/8,don't mean to sound like a troll, and there is always the possibility that I am wrong as I often am,otherwise thank you for this video, some good stuff
ОтветитьThat was the best way to teach how to play Rosanna 😊
Thank You
If I may nitpick, 6/4 is not the same as 12/8. The compound meters 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8 exist as "tripletized" versions of the simple meters 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4, without having to use triplet notation over every beat. The dotted quarter note is the beat; therefore, 12/8 has 4 beats, while 6/4 has 6.* With all due respect to Mr. Purdie, it was a poor choice to call that shuffle 12/8.
*Composers sometimes use it without the dotted quarter note beat, but only to represent complex beat patterns that happen to subdivide into 12, not to represent a 6 feel instead of 4 (Bartók using 9/8 for .x.x.x.xx for example). 12/8 and 6/4 are as non-interchangeable as 4/4 and 2/2.
Really like what you are doing Bro. For me you are one of the best drum teaching master in the world. You are simply the best I learned much from you.
ОтветитьI’m lazy, I just gotta feel it
ОтветитьGood playing.
ОтветитьMy favorite particular kinds
Of shuffle are the fast swinging double
Shuffles you know Albert Collins style,
Srv style etc...
Hey Brother, I been playin' more years than U probly been alive, and I think you're one of the best players, but more importantly TEACHERS of this beautiful art we call drums that I've ever seen! I love your sound, & ESPECIALLY that awesome snare! It's a great sound, and the haters probly got a sub- $1K electronic kit with an "808" kick & "cannon shot" flanged '80's snare patch, lol!!! 💥🥁
ОтветитьJag nöter och nöter på Rosanna shuffle, snart där...
