Powercolor RX6800 works nicely. I went a step further and spray painted the heatsink black lol. Looks nice and in my opinion is a must do for SFFPC. Get more air movement in the case given the lack of case fans... Anyway, thanks for the vid and sorry it took me so long to watch it!
ОтветитьAhhh, back when triple slot cards were considered huge. Good ol' days...
ОтветитьTbh it's nuts that its 2023 and basically every GPU still uses crappy tiny fans??
ОтветитьWait... are they A12's set to exhaust? So no other exhaust fans in this case?
ОтветитьInteresting
ОтветитьDo the reduced temps affect the power consumption and/or how far you can undervolt without reducing frequency?
Ответитьyou are an absolute professional. I have no fear recommending you as the go-to pc hardware channel.
Ответитьhonestly i had just wanted to tape/glue them, but the immense heat would definitely loosen the bond.
ОтветитьI did this + copper shims mod on my GTX 3070Ti... got temps 20-30c lower than stock.
ОтветитьYou're only supposed to do this only when your gpu cooler has heatpipes integrated into it.
ОтветитьHow about deshroud with 4090? The 4090 TUF for example?
Ответитьcurrently waiting on the mini to 4 pin adapter, Noctua redux 1700rpm fan and some cable ties, I am going to de-shroud my new RTX 2060, swap out the old thermal paste for arctic mx 4 or whatever it's called, run the fan at an aggressive curve in afterburner - I am hoping to be able to get really good overclocking results at maybe 69 to 75c at load. I cant afford a 30 series card right now but if I can get closer with overclocking I'll be happy. I've OC'd my 5600x so much that even AAA games only use like 12 percent of it lol, just my GPU needs some TLC.
Ответить75 degrees is actually perfectly fine for a GPU, so this sort of mod is of questionable benefit. Maybe if you had a small form factor case ,it would be desireable, otherwise you're better off spending your time and money on other things.
ОтветитьI've heard the MSI 1050 Aero series have 58mm mounting holes and you can use this cooler on them, anyone tried?
ОтветитьAfter almost 2 years, Noctua decided to do this.
ОтветитьGood ides for a case that doesn't need to use all the slots which is my situation witht old pc where the usb got fried and i have to sue a pci card directly underneath the available space of the only PCIE slot
ОтветитьIs this machine 100% silent except while video editing , gaming or streaming? Do the GPU fnans only activate under high loads?
ОтветитьWhat model of itx case Is he using ?
Ответитьi dont understand why gpu companies dont make it easier and more accessible to modify the air cooling options on graphic cards. it opens up a whole new market to profit on. also it allows consumers to get more life out of their gpu's by allowing people to upgrade and replace air cooling on their graphic cards. allowing consumers to customize the noise level, thermals, and aesthetics on their graphics cards. also making it possible to replace cooling systems if they go bad. its a whole market that has been long forgotten for some reason. there would not be that much that companies would need to do in order to make this a reality. its not like they would need to re engineer fans or fan sockets. they would just need to make them more universally compatible when initially designing their new gpu's. people would actually go out of there way to buy gpu's with upgradable and customizable air cooling options. it would benefit both consumers and companies. there is literally no downside.
ОтветитьWith those performance gains I'd be willing to chop up any card ☻️
Ответитьi absolutely adore this video. you helped me get my ncase m1 build completely perfect. it's a GTX 1080 strix 7700k build for gaming while i'm traveling. I am using a Magedok 1440p 120 Hz 17.3" display. the gtx 1080 strix required me to totally bend the tabs with plyers lol. but now that I did that, the card runs absolutely ridiculously amazing. RIDICULOUS! I get 8219 on Timespy with my 1080. max temp 57 F lmfao. 2114 MHz on the core and +2000 (plus 2 thousand!!!) on the memory. like wtf. deshroud for the fuckin win. gpu cooling is stock strix heat sink (mangled with plyers) to fit 2 corsair SP120 fans (from like 2014)..
All in all, your vid gave me a completely dope as fuck setup. thanks for this vid
can i do this in a non itx case?
ОтветитьTin snips / aviation snips probably would be cleaner than a Dremel. Or even ,from the look of those tabs, just bend them away or bend them back and forth until they get weak and snap off.
ОтветитьJust to note that, if you want to control fan speeds with GPU temps you can use Argus Monitor which is a very flexible utility for controlling fan speeds; I was kinda using a deshroud with my current graphics card (using shorud and sys fans to keep temps cooler) and that software was able to accomplish that very task.
ОтветитьI'm from Missouri, show me, show me the fans being mounted.
ОтветитьConclusion: stock fans are cheap garbage.
ОтветитьBeen doing something slightly different myself some years already: got a splitter cable for GPU fan socket and then GPU --> Case fan adapter to hook up one case fan with the GPU. Idea with this is that when the GPU fans start to speed up due temps rising up, that one case fan provides it with more cool air from the front panel. That way the internal circulation is on better sync and the GPU gets more ''fresh air'' to cool it down.
ОтветитьThis is a good challenge to those of us that have fabricating skills. Drawing up mounting and ducting , then 3D printing it.
Ответитьyou can deshroud asus RTX 3070 Noctua edition perfectly in NR200
ОтветитьJay showed that going in and redoing the thermal paste and thermal pads on a hot card can potentially increase thermal performance substantially, this shows that if you're willing to "de-shroud" and replace the fans there's even more performance to be gained. a pair of Noctua's isn't cheap but they last a long time, you could do this and migrate them to whatever new graphics card you get assuming you're willing to do a bit of "jury rigging" and the lower thermals should allow you to dramatically reduce fan speed hence noise under load, my kinda mod.
ОтветитьI LITERALLY did that to my asus 1080ti like 3h ago. Changed paste and mounted two arctic p12 fans. The card is idling at 27-32C.
ОтветитьHas anybody tried to de shroud a Gainward Pheonix 3080?
ОтветитьHad this GPU been repasted prior to your "stock test"? If not then the results also include the repaste.
Ответитьcan this work for the cooler master nr200p case?
ОтветитьHello, I have a question, the mini vga adapter is not compatible with this VGA as it has a 7 pin fan connector, how did you connect it ??
🙂
I put 3 arctic P8 under 3070ti works like a charm , they don't have any humming all the rpm and even 3000rpm is silent
ОтветитьHow was the cpu temp affected by this mod?
ОтветитьHere in 2021. Did Noctua and Asus just watch this and did their version? :v
ОтветитьThere has to be better way than to block three slots. Maybe I can use one of those flex cables and use a different rear opening.
Ответитьtoo bad this isnt possible with the 30 series FE cards, at least not in a way that i can think of
ОтветитьI simply wish I could buy a black Ncase M1 but no dice! Can't find a good shape one anywhere! 🤷♂️
ОтветитьDoes having two fans blow air towards the GPU like that actually help with its temps?
ОтветитьNoctua: "Ohhhh that's a good idea"
Ответитьintake : fan suck air from outside and push to GPU heatpipe
exhaust : fan suck air from GPU and push to outside case
am I right? 🤔
You got me into modding cards
ОтветитьI’m wanting to implement this in a node 202 case, do the replacement fans need to be plugged into the gpu? Or can they be hooked up to the case fan pins on the motherboard?
Ответить
