Blender Secrets - Paint Flowing Clouds

How do you break angles on the shaders' connection lines. I mean it gets really messy if you dont sometimes and havent seen a single tutorial in that.

Does anybody known a quicker way to set Origin to selection? My process: Edit mode > select surface > Shift + S > Cursor to Selection > Tab > Object > Set Origin > Origin to 3D Cursor. I'm definitely looking for a single button process.
