RIP to all of us who got this $1800 version, and then watched the 14 inch get released a year later, for almost the same price 💀

But real talk- it’s ultimately ok. Technology always gets better, so comparing your laptop to the latest and greatest will always result in you wanting more. I use this laptop every day, and it’s still fantastic. There are many people in the world who would love to have a single laptop, let alone a MacBook. I’ll upgrade when I need to, and be happy with what I have :)

the FPS reading was insanely LOW during the GPU test. Other than that this looks like a good buy.

I got this same computer but I just got it a day ago and I noticed it heats up very quick and it gets very hot. Is there any fixes to stop overheating quick?

Hi Max, are there already known specifications or rumors ( release date ) of the latest update for the Macbook pro 16 inch with Intel processor. ( What i'am reading is October 2020 after the IPhone 12) ?

I recently ordered a MacBook pro 2020 w 10th gen Intel.
I wanted it to be future proof and having good resale value over time.
Efter buying i started seeing videos of a MacBook pro silicon release, which promises more power, way more battery life and less heat output (seems like a huge leap this time)
I Saw a comment saying when Apple switched to Intel back in the Days, support for the older system was dropped after only 2 years...
So im worried i just bought a Mac that seems like it will be heavily out competed, and also a Mac that Will drop a Lot of value, and maybe even lose support..
I already have a ThinkPad t480s that i bought after i got my Money back from the MacBook pro 2016, but my workflow on it when studying for Uni is just so bad.. i COULD wait but i really want a Mac now though. I know There is always something Better on the horizon, but this time im being told its way way way Better, and would make my specced out MacBook pro feel obsolete and old in No time. Are these rumours over exaggerated, Will Intel have some upsides (other than app support?

Thanks for the review! I just recently bought the £1800 model and I've noticed that every time I charge it it heats up quite badly and when I used videoconferencing it also heats up quite badly. Have you noticed this with this MBP or is this just an issue with my machine? Thanks

hi max ! I got this same laptop at a discounted price but I am considering downgrading to a MacBook Air with i7 . what do you think about it since I came from a mid-2017 function keys i5 256gb 8 gb model ?

I have this MacBook Pro got in $300 off as an open box item, at first I really liked it. I really liked the Touch Bar that made me change this font to red , and now to blue let me know if you can see the color change👍🏽 I can do emojis too !! 😍 I wasn't a fan of touch bar that much, I upgraded from a mid-2017 function key 13 inch. so basically doubled many things !! also gives to easy way to edit the text almost anywhere !
1- double the processors ( dual core to Quade core)
2- double the ports !! ( form 2 on the left side only to 2 on both sides )
3- double the RAM ( from 8 GB to 16 GB) , also faster form DDR3 to DDR4LPX
4- double the SSD storage
5- double vents on the side ( the baseline doesn't have it )
6- double the fans !! ( now I have 2 fans that keep my Mac cooler and more quite vs older Mac that comes with only 1 fan!).
7- GOT subwoofers !! the entry 13 model doesn't have. ( read that you feel sound is next to your ears and I found out its TRUE !!) the 16 inch has more superior audio but this is best for 13 inch.
8-for some reason I like the older butterfly keyboards as your fingers can slide from key to the other without you touching the edge of the keys. this magic keyboard is welcomed. it has good key travel. reminds me with my first ever Mac the MacBook Air 2012.

AREA APPLE CAN IMPROVE ON:
1-a version dedicated GPU
2- providing a function key version
3-getting the studio microphones from the 16 inch to the 13 inch
4-reducing the upper screen bezel as not it looks obsolete (perhaps they will do it with the MacBook 14 inch )
I hope apple change the following: allow for under-clocking / under-volting so I can have a longer battery life whenever I need it. they can creat an app for that.

I'm disappointed by the battery life as I was expecting something that could last longer. even the entry 13 inch can actually last longer than this Mac. I hope for the integration of a larger battery too.

For all interested in the i7 Upgrade. Here are my results (i7, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD)

initially 42W and dropping to 37W; CPU frequency 3.6Ghz dropping to 3.4Ghz all cores, temps at 100 degrees
Score 2132 Points

power limit to 35W with Volta App
CPU frequency 3.4Ghz, temps at 96 degrees
Score 1995 Points

power limit to 32W with Volta App
CPU frequency 3.3Ghz, temps at 90 degrees
Score 1941 Points

Conclusion:
In comparison to Max Tech results the i7 CPU can draw 37W continuously and the cooling seems to handle it. You'll hit 100 degrees though all the time. You can get "safer" temperatures by lowering the CPU power limit to 35W (96 degrees) or 32W (90 degrees) while still maintaining a CPU frequency of 3.3 - 3.4Ghz on all cores! In my opinion the upgrade was worth it! You either let the CPU loose with the cost of hitting 100 degrees frequently or you can power limit the CPU to a safer 32W while still having a slightly more powerful machine and the machine runs cooler hitting a max of "only" 90 degrees.

My Intel i7 10700K runs 29 degrees idle ❄❄❄❄. Don't believe any video saying the 10 gens run hot... They're even cooler than the 9th gen Intel chips.
