Minecraft Speedrunning Tutorial: Custom Capes without Mods [read desc.]

Just realised that the skins folder will populate with other's skins loaded from servers, potentially making there hundreds of skin folders.

The solution to this, is to just check the 17 folder first (I'm 90% sure this will be the migrator cape). If it's not, or if there are way too many folders/files inside the 17 folder, just delete all the folders in the SKINS folder (the folder above the 17 folder). This will effectively clear the skin cache. Next, boot minecraft into a singleplayer world. This should repopulate the folder with only your skin and cape, so you can find it easier.

In this method can anybody see your cape ?

Honestly hilarious how when I tried using the Founder's cape design it made it some weird steve texture, every other cape design worked except for that. I fixed it by editing a singular pixel, very strange and weird.

Can other players see the cape?

I put in a cape (the extension was not png) and I made it read only but I launched minecraft and the cape was Steve

No matter what i put in the assets folder it changes back to the migrator cape when i load the game 😔

when i try to rename the new cape to the old cape's name, it stays as a png and there's no .png at the end of the cape's name. is there anything that can change the file extension name back to a file?

This is cool, but on Windows 10 I can't turn .png files back into files by removing the .png part (Windows automatically assumes it as .png and you aren't allowed to edit it anymore) Is it possible for me to turn .png capes into normal file capes?

For me the game always turns the new cape back into the old one (like literally wipes the file clean and turns it back into the default) Idk and have tried everything to fix it but nothing works :(.
