Linux - Tutorial for Beginners in 13 MINUTES! [ UPDATED ]

Just want to tell you that I am in an intro to operating systems class and you have been more insightful in 13 mins the 2 weeks so far. Made everything im learning in class make sense. 100% will recommend to others in my class who are having troubles.

This is why i never really switched it was too complicated. At least I know windows and windows 7 doesn't suck as bad, I'm still using it lol

thank you. this was very well articulated and explained. i needed this as an absolute beginner so that i can get a feel for the terminal and basic commands before i go on a multi-day journey of writing notes and practicing on one of those 5+ hour videos lol.

Note, in Ubuntu bash shell (CLI) and some others, the apt command now includes aptitude and apt-get and is now native. Also the nano editor has clear prompts at the bottom for new users as apposed to the vi editor. Lots of good info in the video.

I was totally lost after about 4 minutes. a user interface is simply needed, linux looks like shit and you miss almost all the fun of the internet. there is no benefits to this OS

that was the most mono tone droned out video of any i have ever watched and it was in some way informative it was very lacking description, or meaningful reasoning. I suggest that if you are just starting to linux that you find some other resources to compliment this otherwise youll have kknow idea why these commands are ...

Why do none of the directories show up when I type "ls"? I only have files show up, so how do I add directories? For my current needs, I have to add "Downloads" because when I type "cd ~/Downloads/" it says "no such file or directory". Anyways, I would very much appreciate any help, thank you!

Geez, I would like to go to linux when Win 10 goes out in 2025 but i'm 76 years old and this is way too much to remember. Complicated. In windows all you did is drage a file around, with this you have to think entirely too much.

I know Linux is probably better than Windows, but windows and MacOS are just what I’m used to and I really hate having to watch a tutorial to be able to do something on my computer. So as a result, I don’t think I’m going to use Linux. Plus like 3% of games support it so I really don’t think it’s worth relearning how to use my computer.
