Google Maps vs Apple Maps!

The features should be weighted. Accuracy in reaching at the right destination and avoiding unnecessary turns should be weighted much higher than finding friends nearby. So providing just 1 point in accuracy doesn’t give justice to the most important feature which is reaching to right destination using best possible route

I like that i can get directions from Apple Maps on my watch.

The whole Yelp thing is what really stops me from using Apple Maps. I’ll even forget, which is why I’m watching this video again, and download the app to see if it’s gotten better. Then I’ll try and look at reviews of a place and see Yelp. Then I’m like “Oh yea! That’s why I don’t use this crap!” 😅 Its not a bad app. It’s just dumb to have to download Yelp. I hate that they do that on their website too.

Never used Apple Maps, but Google has seriously dropped the ball regarding keeping maps updated in smaller cities. Crowdsourcing is fine, but the way to report errors is really limited and cumbersome and there hasn't been any rewards in years.

Google Timeline and offline maps is essential to my work flow as Field Service. Apple Maps is an absolute no go unless it gets these features, regardless of all others

Apple maps doesn’t even recognise places and one of the most annoying feature of it is that i cannot set home location without contact card and my contact card home location is showing somewhere else than the actual location.
One of the biggest flaws of google maps is it knows to many roads which sometimes leads to places which dont even have roads 😅.Well but all the rest of the features are decent in google maps

actually with the latest ios 17 update, apple maps allows you to both find your friends on maps and download offline maps!
i personally prefer apple maps even if here in italy is not as common to use it as it is in the us
i like the synchronization between iphone and all the other apple devices, and as i see it is just more aesthetically pleasing, more sleek!
i understand apple maps has room for improvement, but i have faith that it will get better and better with every update

But about this video… I got iPhone but I don’t use Apple Maps, I prefer google maps because when I set a destination it shows me the best route in terms of fuel consumption with the little green leaf logo ofc this isn’t the reason of preference but I find Google maps to be more improved in navigation

Now you only have to give priority to criteria over others. I know that some criteria are subject to personal preferenc while others are not.

I for example prefer to make a 500m detour to a gym than go without menu for a restaurant etc.

Just think about it and give it a try.

Over all it's obvious that google maps are unparalleled and I'm a mac user since 40 years, no negative bias there.

Even only opening the two mapping apps I would choose google over apple maps on first impression, subjectively so to say.

I'm European, perhaps apple maps ist slightly bettter in it's home country while google works everywhere where it's officially present.

All I know is garmin was horrible! It got me there but it kept making me spin around in circles and then just glitched out

I don't know about other countries but here in Mexico Apple Maps you can never find most of the places you need to find, neither reviews nor info about closed streets, etc. So if you come here and need to find a place never use Apple Maps.

I love the look of apple maps but the fact that when using navigation , your icon is always a bit delayed. Not good when the streets are close together. Always miss my turn. For that reason I always use google maps.

I prefer Apple Maps, it’s true in my region it’s better Google Maps but the integration with family, Apple Car and other apps it’s better. They know were I was and my routines and help me with Siri to gi there. Apple Maps it’s not better but It’s gone a be better each dayd.

Tldr google maps is better.
I have to use apple maps all day for work and use google maps on my personal time.

Why did apple never try to compete as a search engine? I’m almost certain they’ve talked about it.

One reason I use Apple Maps over Google Maps is the tiny display of ETA information at the bottom of the GM screen. If you aren’t using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the information is just too hard to see on Google Maps.

Think the uploader may be biased towards Apple, none of the supporting points are relevant for navigation purposes

Living in the United States, Apple maps has performed better than Google maps has in Most aspects. Traveling outside of the US, Google trumps Apple with by having an Abundance of Data and filling countless Navigational Voids that Apple lacks in.

iMaps is the more consistent right now, but that can vary by update. google has better satellite imagery.

What’s nice about google maps, is that bike routes, walking routes and bus routes exist and are realistic in the app which Apple Maps struggles abnormally.

One of the big things that keeps me using Google Maps is the ability to choose routes that are optimized for non-gas-exclusive cars, such as hybrids and EVs. Since they optimize their mileage differently than gas cars do, Google Maps offers different routes depending on the car you drive. Really neat, and currently a dealbreaker.

I am using apple maps for getting navigation and I use google maps for finding new restaurants, reading reviews or finding out opening times and phone numbers of businesses.

One of the biggest things I use Google maps for is reviews. Google maps would have a completely separate set of reviews for restaurants right? Like they wouldn't sync up? I feel like you're missing out on a lot of information using Apple maps since everyone uses Google services

Hey! I'm from India and I like speed and smoothness of Apple Maps compared to low frame rate of Google Maps. But still, I use Google Maps because I don't feel comfortable with Apple Maps yet. I still don't get it why does it feel risky.

If you’re trying to get to your destination Google maps if you want to put a destination but get somewhere else Apple Maps

In my opinion Apple Maps UX is better even if sometimes you need more clicks. Google maps is so unintuitive.

Apple will be implementing offline maps in the iOS 17 release in late 2023.

All these are relevant only for US but outside the US Apple Maps is so bad

I live in the Netherlands and a lot of my commuting is done by bike. Sadly Apple maps still doesn’t have bike routes available in my entire country, for this reason I will always choose Google maps over Apple as long as they do not implement the bike routes.

Nah I live in Arizona and Apple Maps is definitely below google maps. The thing with Google maps is it’ll take you the shortest route and with useful shortcuts. Unlike Apple that’s had me go in circles MANY MANY times

With Apple Maps, you get to know where the speed checks are. I use Apple Maps even though I know he road already, especially for highway drives. Apple map also knows which road is closed, while google instructs me to drive over the construction workers lol

In US. my experience was better than Google. It warn me of speed traps. It took me on a different route and decided to follow the SIRI instructions and be came aware why when I saw the freeway was jammed with cars as I pass it on a side street. I saved about 1 hour of traffic jams. When Uber uses Google it has take me the long way around. In our area Google does not have street labels and show unnamed while Apple shows names. If I remember correctly Apple also uses information from a well known Map/route program to provide more detail. The well known Map/route program existed before Google or Apple
