Refunds

Google is offering a refund to Stadia users for Stadia hardware purchases (Stadia Controller, Stadia Founder’s Edition, Stadia Premiere Edition, or Play and Watch with Google TV Package) made on the Google Store, and game purchases and add-on purchases made on the Stadia Store. The refund process will take some time, but we expect to have the majority of refunds processed by January 18, 2023. We expect to be able to automatically issue refunds for a substantial portion of transactions as a credit to the form of payment used to make the purchase. For purchases that we are not able to automatically refund, you will receive an email with details on how to obtain your refund.

I knew it!! When google stadia was released i was like LOL that looks like a shitty device it probably doesnt have alot of games.

I used stadia for about a year and I only had a lagged experience once

I skipped the video a bit. Did he say somewhere why he bought it now? And why would you want to buy games from Stadia when the games will be gone shortly thereafter anyway?

Internet speed is only a fraction of the equation.
I've got 10GB down at home and stadia was a "just ok" experience (I played a ton a games tho) meanwhile in other places with just 50MB down the experience was amazing.
Ping (a value for latency) and Jitter (variation of that latency over time) are a really big part of the equation for a good experience.

The “power” and portability of the platform is immeasurable. As a console player this allowed me to enjoy Cyberpunk with limited issues and would be my platform of choice if more single player AAA titles were available and if multiplayer was more stable. Being able to play on my IPad while away from home ( visiting family) was amazing!

I don't know if you play PS3 but if that thing could Bluetooth to the PS3 that would be dope.

People in the comments saying that the mod community can bring it back to life, I doubt that. But it wouldn't surprise me to see some people switching out the internal hardware to work as a standard controller. That seems doable, though definitely more of a cool DIY project just to prove it can be done than realistically practical for most people to do. But I don't imagine people would be able to make games work on the stadia without support for it in the first place. And even if they could, Google would likely follow up anything of that sort with lawsuits and closing it down if people ever did find a way to do such a thing, since it would require using Google's licensing and software to do. Not something you really want to mess with. This system was a neat concept in theory, not necessarily my cup of tea, but pretty innovative of a thought, but poorly executed.

Playstation kinda rules now but they are all getting extremely greedy

They are refounding everything, even the games. Except for Stadia Pro.

I bought my stadia premiere for like $5 during a huge sale. Really great controller but the chrome cast is insanely great

its crazy how google loves shutting down their services without a reason or just because no one uses it lol

you didnt even waste money on this, they are refunding the controllers

Maybe stadia don't sell new console but old players with the only cheap console that can afford doesn't, let new games or play any

I'm new to gaming. & So confused by the end of Google stadia. If we don't own a stadia, our games shouldn't be affected?

Once you have good WiFi and live in a first world country, it's a good experience. Only issue was lack of games. Yes you get the regular FIFA and NBA2k, but I needed more overtime. Far cry series, and destiny and borderlands and read dead 2 and AC, was all I was interested in. But would have loved more variety, like GTA, Max Payne, even older ones like Universal Soldier, counterstrike, Tekken, even games like Worms.

As a long time stadia user, I'm glad it happened and opened the door for many other better consoles to make their way into a previously unknown territory. With that being said, I almost laugh at the people to stubborn to ever give it a try in it's day because it played everything flawlessly, and now all of us that did own it have been fully refunded for hardware, subscriptions, games, etc., most of which games were transferred over to other consoles or devices already from the developers of said games, in game currency was refunded but is still fully accessible in the games, etc. In my eyes, this was the best way a beta device could have been handled. I still own all of my games (mostly all now on my steam deck) but have been fully refunded for everything. Now, the Chromecast is still useful and I'm still hoping at the end of service that google will unlock the Bluetooth capabilities of the controller for use on PC.

I’m liked the service a lot. Just wasn’t enough players. I loved stream connect. That was dope honestly

$50 isn't too bad when the chromecast and controller is bundled because long ago those Ultra Chromecast were $75 by themselves so I think of the controller as a free item.

Fortunately google gave an update that deactivated the controller’s functions specific to stadia and turns it into a regular Bluetooth controller. Before that, I was really just bummed out knowing I invested time in the idea of Stadia all together but with the refunds and the controller update, I can say it wasn’t a complete waste…

Console and beefy servers aside the controller looks dope for any console or pc set up assuming the wifi or bluetooth pairing isnt propietary probably would be pretty easy for homebrew type person to do, the scptoolkit for pc works great with ps3 controllers

I found a stadia controller at a thrift store yesterday. I paid $6. I ran the update to convert it to a Bluetooth device.

It's a great controller, feels good in my hands.

You can switch it to Bluetooth mode as long as you switch before the end of 2023
It is perminant and disables the WiFi features of the controller

This are a great deal if you can get them cheap!
You get a chromecast ultra and the controller you can use it Bluetooth and they are great quality controllers

Dont be fooled.

Too much hasle to get it working.

And still cheap Aliexpress controllers will work better.

Stadia controllers are dead weight
