Hi, how about the ram in GPU or graphic card, is it seperate number from the mobo or will it be included in the maximum capacity ram indicated? Thanks for the reply in advance😊

i agree with you to a point, but simply looking at utilization isn't always the answer, because if your utilization is high, you may have programs running in the background that is eating memory. you should be checking that first.

Faster ram. I load my multitrack audio samples 25% faster. I'd go with speed first. You will be much happier with the load times.

With my setup, Rog Maximus Extreme MB and Corsair Dominator DD5 ram I can run 32GB (16GB x2) at 6200MHZ or 64GB (16Gb x4) at 5400MHZ and they perform the same in benchmarks and in games at 4K. It might be different at lower resolutions but not 4k atleast for me. I ended up keeping mine setup at 64GB as DCS has some servers and maps that have went over 32GB of ram usage. The ram was two sets of Corsair 32GB 6200mhz kits I tried together and not as stock 64GB matched kit set so it was not ideal but works fine with manual setup. So things may be different with DDR5 as for now but the advice is spot on when it came to my older DDR4 rigs.

More than 2000mhz has quickly diminishing returns. Of course this depends on the game, but should only be a few FPS; though this might be different on newer games.

So you talked about latency, but never went into what the 4 numbers mean. If low latency is better than higher, why is there so much stuff with higher numbers out there? Is there an average range or window of latency recommend for say gaming VS rendering, VS database stuff?

Thats like saying some vehicles have 4 lug nuts, others have 5, and some bigger ones have 8 to 12 or more.... OK.. And?

My laptop is capped at 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I added 16GB of DDR3 RAM but I still hit the limit and you can forget multitasking. Can I get something faster than 1067 in DDR3 that’s 16GB without changing the module shape

When you get a new system save yourself a lot of extra expense and time swapping components. Get the fastest processor and graphics available, the most ram, and the largest hard drive memory. You won’t have to buy the next one or two computer generations at minimum to allow for software upgrades, etc. If you want to take it to the next level forego a pc and get a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip and memory. It’s faster than the others and you won’t be subject to windows crashes. That’s worth the extra cost for that alone.

Building a computer. Going to do lite editing - 1080 p video, Running an i5 Intel 12400 cpu on an ASUS mATX B660m motherboard, no GPU yet. Looking at Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 or 32 Gb memory, not sure, and not sure if 2400 or 3600 mhz. I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you!

This actually answered almost every question I’ve been having. I built a new PC two years ago with an ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII. The sticker says it’s rated for RAM up to 4800+ I currently have some 3200 sticks and am wondering if I screwed up not getting 3600 or higher. When I look at a lot of 3600 ram, it says it’s for AMD. Also, when multiply the clock rates by the latency numbers, 3200 appears identical to 3600 on some vendors. Super confusing. I’m tempted to just swap for 3600 and benchmark both.
