the sound test is pretty scuffed since you are comparing the sound from two different mics from very different distances, as well as the use of a foam cover, which is known to lower higher frequency response... and i have the feeling you did not account for the frequency response graph of each mic...

I'm not trying to say you did a terrible job, but rather with all the differences in the recording method I don't know if the difference heard is from the keyboard mod or from the setup

These cheap mechanical keyboards are getting better all the time.

Nice! I just did this same board and similar mod. I was really impressed out of the box with decent stabs, plate dampening mat and decent quality being a basic board. After mods and switch/keycap upgrade, it sounds like a much more expensive board. Gave it away as a prize at work, so, hope the winner appreciates it.
