I am using beta version in pixel 4a but won't get gcam 8.3 yet.. now it's running beta 4

Apart from the sharper detail of 8.3 you must be mad to think 8.3 wins.

Now if they could get the exposure, HDR and colours of 8.2 in 8.3 then that would be amazing.

V8.2 is better (Personal Opinion)

8.2 is better in almost everyone as color grading is something most phones fail at, details can be drawn even from Xiaomi phones

Thanks for great comparison!! Are you thinking about doing also one with Pixel 5 ? I remember for some weird reason it suffered from less detailed pictures compared to pixel 4a&4a5g. It would be usefull to see if details improved on pixel 5 with new gcam 🙂

Fair comparison but.. i was shocked how bad the quality is if you compare with older gcam versions or to be more precise with modded gcam version. There used to be an option for 'hdr enhanced' that would make a ton of a difference.. since this was automated i have never been able to find conditions that would activate it. I think that gcam is progressing into a bad 3rd party app and pixel phones will no longer be anything special

Well , Google have really mastered it’s computanonal photography algorithm.. and Gcam is pixels top selling point …
Can’t wait to see what they can do when they finally get a better sensor with the new upcoming pixel .

the shadows now are much better than in the previous version but for dynamic range sometimes processing does not improve it

So Pixel color signs are getting warmer, and flatter, like that of the iPhone. I like it. I hope this GCam port comes to other phonea soon.

One should not underestimate the work and attention to detail that is required for this type and quality of video.
This guy has nailed another camera comparison and deserves a far bigger audience.

Good comparison. The sky definitely cones out better on 8.2 . As you say, the 8.3 is not consistent through the tests.
I will not be getting pixel 6 due to there large size despite camera but look forward to the improvements in all models including the 3

as a photographer, if there is a 1 hour difference in outdoor shoot comparison, I would not really count that as much of a comparison, lighting can make bigger difference... other than the subject isolation

It's better to edit an underexposed image than to try and fix a blown out image.

I dunno IMO gcam 8.2 result looks better for me I mean the over exposed pictures that gcam 8.3 produces are more like iphone pictures which is not my taste. Pixel color science is unique unlike any other phones, it's sharp and a lil underexposed with blueish tint going on. I hope they would maintain that later for the upcoming pixel.
