And this drove me to check the Xbox shop, only to find that Half Life simply isn't available for Xbox SS, which is beyond staggering.

A whole documentary about how legendary this game is, and it is, and yet a whole generation (without PC) can't play it!

OR those who played it back in 98, and have that nostalgia, can't play it again!

Love to experience it remastered with todays engines but at the same time see the next installment because guess what half-life has intrigued me for 25 years already!

This game is very special to me. I was just a little boy when it came out and I remember my older brother talking about it and all the stuff you can do, I was amazed. When I finally got a computer able to run it I couldn't believe how realistic it is and my God the atmosphere.
Sure we had games like Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake 2 etc that came out before HL1, but I felt like HL brought the most of the innovative things together.
Things we were amazed by: Corpses didn't move with your field of view, but they stayed in place. Bullet holes/ blood stains staying on walls. Interaction with NPCs. Models opened their mouths when talking. Breakable objects. Long intro cutscene that sucked you into the game. Amazing sound effects. Quicksaves/quickloads and loading screens.
We take this for granted today, but back then every game pushed the limits and brought something new. IMO Half life made the biggest impact in first person shooters of them all. Btw HL2 was a disappointment for me, it felt like totally different game and I never really understood the hype.

The intro gives me chills every time.
Such a classic of video games, definitely deserves a remastering.

In half-life 2 during the buggy sequence, there is a train encounter. The 2 most common ways to deal with this encounter are:
1) As soon as you hear the train horn, hammer the buggy at turbo speed and beat it to the junction.
2) slam the buggy into reverse and get to the point where the track widens so you can dodge the train.

I have used both of these methods, BUT there is a 3rd

Before you reach the narrow section of the track, exit the buggy and walk along the track. Eventually, you find a gap between the blocking carriages that you can jump through. Jump through this gap and proceed along the track until you hear the train horn. Wait for the train to pass and return to the buggy.
