Well…I hate to be that guy…but yes his voice is amazing and it’s a nice song. But unlike every other Billy Joel song the music and the arrangement came from other people. He only wrote the lyrics. This takes some of the luster off for me.

In 1977 I was 12 years old when the album The Stranger was released. Title track Movin’ Out was playing whenever my friends and I were getting ready Friday night to hit the roller rink in Oyster Bay on Long Island (not far from the small town of Cold Spring Harbor). Being from the same town as BJ, he and his songs have been a main staple in my life. Such meaningful lyrics and music he has made. Wow! Just wow! Bravo!

Never thought we would hear a new Billy Joel song. Well, aren’t we blessed. I can hear the old familiar but also some classical music structured in there. This has that anthemic feel of moving through the mountains of time from the narrative position that we love about a Billy Joel song.
