Make a video to minimize latency for gaming

What's the point to limit fps if you already have v-sync enabled?

Wow I though uncapping my fps + vsync off would give me lowest latency. In valorant I saw a significant difference of latency from 8ms to 4ms by just turning on gsync + in game vsync + capping my FPS to 158 since I have 165hz panel + Nvidia reflex low latency On + Boost + Ultra low latency on NVCP 🤯🤯🤯

Why are people obsessed with capping their frame rate below their monitors highest refresh rate? I never understood the purpose of this.

Hello, So if I have gsync, vsync, and fps limiter turned on with nvcp, should I leave my in game settings fps limiter to off or should I also put a limiter in game?

The only extra effect ULL would have is automatic fps limit (following blurbusters' author of gsync101 explanations). If you use nvcpl max framerate slider ULL will simply follow this setting (or at least it should follow it) instead of its fixed pre-defined limits (-1 at 60, around -2/-3 at 120 and so on) if the slider is not used. If you use external (rtss) or in-game settings it will still (pointlessly) set its fixed limiter - which is literally incorrect thing to do in such case. Of course this also assumes v-sync is on. If it's off then it's just ull == on (aka set the mprf == 1 hint).

Decent guide. My understanding is that in order to get the most out of GSync, it's much more widely recommended to use Nvidia's VSync (that's located in the control panel) over in-game VSync. Of course, GSync still needs to be enabled.

You are telling people to enable Vsync in game with a Gsync panel, you are an idiot. You have tech illiterates on Steam spreading this false info.

I don't understand why Gsync requires Vsync to be turned on, given that Gsync should synchronise the refresh rate of the monitor with the frequency at which frames become available. In other words, why does tearing occur at all, if Gsync is being used? Is tearing occurring despite the use of Gsync, if the frames come in too fast, i.e., the frame generation speed exceeds the maximum frequency the monitor can handle?

Hello, I noticed that in games that do not support full screen, but only Borderless (World of warcraft and Back 4 blood) g sync works very well without v sync (no tearing at the bottom of the screen), if the maximum performance mode is selected in the Nvidia power supply settings. The fps limiter must be enabled in Nvidia settings, not in RTSS! How does it work?

Hi quick question, if I play competitive games like valorant, where I get 300+ fps and my pc can maintain the game at 270+ easily, do I still need to use g sync ? I have a 144hz monitor, my friend said I should game at uncapped and not use v sync or g sync as that's better.

1. should i enable in game (if yes then what about triple buffer in game?)
2. should enable v sync in nvdia control panel, yet again what about triple buffering
3. v sync enable where?

Can anyone help, I have an rtx 3080ti and switching from a 1080p 60hz monitor to a 1440p 144hz, I’m wondering how I should set my v sync and Gsync and all that, some people said to use Gsync and vsync together, I’m not sure how I should be setting it up once I get it, the monitor has free sync but I saw that I can use Gsync with it also, I don’t play games with 200plus fps, I’d play more first person story based games, example I played rd2 and even on my 1080p with the rtx 3080ti I see it go from 160fps to 80 ish fps depending on where I am like cities and more crowded areas, it’s mostly stable around 140 but does drop from time to time, should I be using gsync to turn that on and then use rtss and lock my fps around 141fps and still let it bounce all over or should I set rtss to lock my fps at like 90 since I get drops and should I just be using rtss or rtss with Gsync and do I turn on v sync on game as well, I’m confused as to how I should set my new monitor for this stuff, if anyone can help :)

I heard that gsync will still work in windowed borderless even if it's set too fullscreen in the nvcp, so longs as the game is a DX12 game; is this true, do you happen to know anything about this?

I tested it with gsync on and vsync off in windowed borderless and it did indeed function as if it was in fullscreen and eliminated most of the screen tearing. I then turned on vsync along with gsync and all screen tearing was eliminated, however is it adding additional input lag?

I'm asking because I find it annoying to switch in and out of fullscreen mode. Switching windows is much faster in borderless mode :/

it is too many steps for slightly more smooth gameplay. I guess, it's easier to stay with standard vsync, 75-120hz to 75-120fps. Anyway many single player games don't work properly when adaptive sync mixed with vsync, bugs in physics etc.

If vsync is on, why do I need a framerate limiter? A lot of this seems really redundant. And wouldn't turning on vsync in Nvidia Control Panel be better than doing it in game, since vsync in game isn't designed specifically to work with gsync and would therefore be active all the time thus removing the point of gsync?

At this point I might not even bother with this technology at all and just use vsync. Everyone says something totally different about it and none of it makes much sense.

Pretty useful but what about games that have a build in FPS cap of like 60FPS? I have an Asus VP249QGR that has an 144Hz refresh rate at 1080p and some games I play like Nier Automata and Dark Souls 3 have 60FPS cap. If I enable Vsync in those games, will I still find Input delay at 60FPS or it will be okay due to Vsync only activating at 144FPS.
