I love how with most of these videos on how different characters' stories will end it's all piecing together complex backstories, mystery, intrigue, magic and secrets but with Littlefinger it's just "lol he just wants money and power exactly as he said". An extremely clever man with a straightforward and simple objective. Love him.

sad you didn't mention he's planning to marry sansa off to the heir of the vale-
some long distant cousin of the sick lordlad is the next in line, and just low enough on the rank to marry petyrs bastard daughter openly, and sansa stark quietly

and sansa DOES have the love of the people, and the heir probably has the loyalty of the vale, or more like they really really really don't have anyone else to place their bets on.

the riverlands would also stand behind sansa, as she's an heir to the tullys too.

I’m pretty sure Robin Arryn is his son. Lysa said they were married “long ago”, and maybe the reason she loves Robin so much is because his the son of the man she truly loves. That’s also explain why Petyr took care of him after Lysa’s death

The great tragedy of Petyr Baelish is that he hates his little holding in the Fingers, while every description of it makes it look scenic and cool, and it's too far to be affected by wars and stuff

He is definately the biggest machiavellian character in the series but I think he is doomed the families in this world are too proud there is no way a schemer, unknown and with no battle provess or reputation will ever hold the North or the Vale. He could have become a lord by backing a house and staying true but I think Varys knows most of his doings and is smart enough to know men like them have to operate behind the scenes. With that said I can't wait to see what he does next!

I was only ever confused about why any woman would believe him or his professions of love. He is literally a whore master. His day job is using women to make money. How on earth could a woman believe he understands love? He uses women and that is his whole relationship with them. He uses Catelyn to lure Ned Stark into trusting him. He uses Lysa to give Sansa a hiding place , even as he acquires consequence and land by marrying her. He uses Sansa to get in good with the Boltons. He fosters disquiet between Arya and Sansa so he can play them against each other. He is a user. Although I love the actor. Only a great actor can make me this angry.

I always found the Littlefinger plotline a little unbelievable. I mean, we're dealing with a world of dragons and magic, so there's some suspension of disbelief required. But the humans of Westeros are written to be as the humans of Earth, and humans are never as simple and predictable as required for these schemes of Littlefinger to work. Far more likely is a spectacular backfire that ends up with his head on a spike, and maybe that will be his fate eventually. But until then, the magical aspects of these stories, the Others, the undead, the resurrections, all of these are easier to swallow than the idea that a no-name lord from a minor house started a civil war and no one stopped and said, hey, why did you arrest Tyrion again? Wait, what dagger? That wasn't his dagger. Who told you it was? Ohhhhh, Littlefinger. I see... well, let's cut his head off at the next small council meeting...

He's like Cao Cao, in a time of chaos, whether it's modern era or ancient era, anybody, literally anybody who is willing to lend their hand to shape and rebuild order would be welcomed by the people. Even a comedian could become a president. It's just based on needs, and in chaos, demands are always high.

And this guy literally took that chances. Unlike Varys, he wants to move higher. But yeah, when a little bit of order is built, you can't make any risky move anymore, it's either be step up or stay where you are. Step up means to destroy any people who know that you're dangerous. Stay where you are means accept what you have, atleast you earn something that you never had before.

my suspicion is that littlefinger doesn't really have a "plan", he just wants to see as much of the power and riches of westeros squandered as possible so he can possibly swoop in and pick up the pieces

what he wants really is chaos so he can use it as a ladder. he wants as many houses at each other's throats as possible.

a marriage between sweetrobin and sansa would allow two wards of littlefinger to be united in their (hypothetical) strength, and then he also has mya stone, robert's bastard, for a possible claim on the stormlands or even the iron throne itself, around him at court in the vale

i also suspect that he will be trying his hardest to make sure that the tyrells, lannisters, martells, and supporters of aegon are at eachother's throats as much as possible, doing as much damage to eachother and their legitimacy as possible. i think that where varys is very systematic and seems to be very loyal to illyrio and aegon for a grand conspiracy, littlefinger is much more innovative and flexible, and doesn't have any real loyalties or commitments to anyone

perhaps the ultimate play is bringing the iron bank of braavos into play, as he could be seen by the iron bank as both their kin through petyr's distant braavosi ancestry and a reliable figure for the payment of the iron throne's outstanding debts, as he both dramatically increased revenues and is himself in ownership of lucrative assets throughout kings landing

I do like the idea of Sansa outwitting Littlefinger - she starts off as a naive child but through her time in Kings landing and with Petyr she grows up and becomes more cunning until she can play the game as well as anyone else. Having her be the one to finally put an end to Petyr and his climb towards the top feels fitting in my opinion. However, the show basically cheated by having Bran use his magic... It feels like George is/was planning for Petyr to climb higher and higher until he was undone by love, which is a bit poetic I suppose. It's very clear that Petyr was never able to let go of Catelyn - he mentions her a lot in season one whenever he is talking to Ned, so it would be fitting that because he can't let go of it, it becomes the thing that brings him down.

It would have been great to see this in the show but it is really evident that the writers didn't really know what to do with him when they had covered the books. I think Petyr should have survived until the very end where Sansa defeats him with a plan of her own. Perhaps she and Robin Arryn meet and they discover that Littlefinger set the whole war in motion - would be fitting that the two of them bring him down since Petyr manipulated Robins mother and killed her, just like he manipulated Catelyn and ultimately got her killed indirectly.

Guess we can only hope that the books are released so we can find out what Petyr is up to and what will happen...
