I'm trying to set up an access point (Ubiquiti 6 Lite) in client mode with Open Wrt. Is this possible with that AP because according to the OpenWRT documentation the client mode requires routing and I thought routing is only possible with Wifi Routers and not with standard AP's like the Ubiquiti one (or am I wrong and OpenWRT adds Routing capabilities with its firmware and routing does not require specific Router HW)?

Whichever device does PPPoE also has to do NAT, and whichever device does NAT usually does DHCP. If your router has a better, more flexible NAT and a better DHCP server, let your router do it.

You don't want both devices doing NAT if you can avoid it. That's called "double NAT" and tends to cause problems for people who don't know what they're doing (and even some who do)
