Shikamaru will always be a great hokage. He doesn't have that much power but his thinking is exceptional.

I feel like Shikamaru is more like a General than a president....he doesn't negotiate peace and try to navigate treaties ....you put Shikamaru in charge during war ...he can minimize the casualties and attain victory ...... think about the game he used to play as a kid that show cased his intelligence.....he's a war strategist it's a war game ......it's not a peace keeper game 🤔

With all the timeskip, i think Shikamaru has trained as well. Being smart is one thing, i bet he knows his weakness and might have trained to strengthen his jutsu to be more suitable in the role. His Will of Fire and protecting the King would be his wake up call knowing that there is no Naruto or Sasuke to aid him.

I just think Konoha needs to really tone down on the number of their hokages. Other villages are at their 4th or 5th kage and Konoha is just here with their 8th hokage, lol. Tsunade or Kakashi should have stepped up. Konoha be really handing out their hokage title very easily.

Shikamaru knows Sadara is telling the truth. The man is a genius. Even if he fully believes his memory, he understands genjutsu, and even worldwide genjutsu... He has literally experienced it before... He's lying to Sadara to keep the village safe until he can make the right move at the right time.

Kakashi is smart. He can still protect the village this way and have Shikamaru do all the paperwork.

Konohamaru is so garbage you would think they would build him as a strong jonin and have him still want to be hokage. Striving for that, then at some point him being hokage would make sense. Plus I want his moveset to get better than just rasengun

I lowkey have no hate towards shikamaru as hokage but i just dont think he has the right mindset or attitude for it but he is smart i just feel like they had better options out there i feel like naruto's student could of been the best choice

I really dislike Sakura in general and always have BUT she was pretty much the perfect choice for stand in hokage. She shares Naruto’s ideals and vision for peace, she saw his struggle to build the world she loved to live in with her kid and husband and has all the motives in the world to keep it the way it is, she is incredibly strong, has 100 healing jutsu and is a tai-jutsu expert, a strong connection to everyone in the village (being the local healer and all).

Shikimaru has always been … mediocre when it comes to the big names at best. His intellect, quick thinking and ever adapting strategy is what makes him dangerous enemy and a brilliant ally, not his jutsu or chakra or strength or fighting ability.

Well, to be honest, there was some, we might call it, foreshadowing. Asuma, Temari and Shikaku at some point told him that he could become hokage if he tried and wasnt lazy.

In my honest opinion, the pure strenght isnt as important for now and the village understands it, after seeing literal semi-gods just show up from sky. On this level of power, everyone is like a bug. Rock Lee's taijutsu, Sakura's healing jutsu, Ino's mind control, its all almost worthless and can only be either non-fighting traits or do minimal harm to new class of enemies. So, Shikamaru, being as much of a bug as everyone else in the village, was able to break Eida-Code alliance like it was nothing. Without bloodshed, just the talking. He also knows best how to treat Amado and what kind of questions he should ask him. If strenght doesnt matter that much anymore (apart from main crew), he is the best choice.

Tbh I think he will die. Most likely from Code's hands, because he is on a list. Which makes me sad, cause he is my favourite in the whole Narutoverse and i'd like to see at least few more his brilliant plans.

As far as SHINOBI threats, I think that, for Shikamaru, the INO-SHIKA-CHO formation(s) even the playing field for him. YES, utilizing Ino and Choji, would kind of be cheating (as he wouldn't be protecting the village by himself), but INO-SHIKA-CHO is what the Nara (Yamanaka and Akimichi) are renowned across the world for.

As for the Otsutsuki threat, he has Amado, "New" Delta, (and more loosely) Eida, and Daemon. He's got all these shogi pieces at his disposal ready to protect Konoha, by any means.

Lastly, I hear all of you guys, but let me just remind you all that (via Pain) Konoha was utterly destroyed when Tsunade was Hokage, as well. 🤷🏿‍♂️ Just saying.

Shikamaru needs to figure out wood release man, the potential to cover an area with shadows or create a shadow binding wood coffin than can seal anyone inside within a void. Or create wood puppets in any shape he needs, controlled with shadow threads that can't be cut.

I would take almost anyone over Shikamaru for the hokage position. I feel like Shikamaru is just gonna be annoying and an obstacle to the rest of the main cast. Like he was with Sarada in the first chapter. I'd take Konohamaru, Sakura, Kakashi, Tsunade or anyone else over Shikamaru because I think they'd be more understanding characters we can actually find likeable

Sakura outclasses Tsunade and is as young as Shikamaru. She would be a decent Hokage, but is so absent from the manga that it wouldn’t work for the story

Orochimaru is the best pick if you think raw power and resources. You know he have advanced lab and army of Logs with one old super log. Heck even Kabuto with his Sharingan children army could have been a Hokage!
