Your number 3 was SO, SO good. Right on! As beautiful as some curriculum may be....and tempting, my conscience can't get there! And your words just helped solidify that in my mind. :) Thanks for being bold enough to speak up on that note!

My hubby studied Mormonism in a class on cults in seminary. He immediately vetoed TGATB. 😂 You definitely hit a nerve with some people with #3, despite not naming the curriculum and not even advising others against it. The responses and defensiveness is telling. Thanks for sharing. 😊

I'm not a Christian (we're actually practicing Pagans) but I did have an experience with a previous history curriculum we were using (History of the World) and we really enjoyed the first book! My daughter loved the novelization of the ancient history that it offered, and I would read it to her since she wasn't reading fluently on her own yet. BUT when I went to buy the second of the series, I started seeing some complaints that people had about it and about the author's clear bias against and within the sections that involved the history of the Muslim and Middle Eastern peoples. When I looked into it myself I just couldn't be comfortable using it. I have always taught my child that all peoples are just as worthy and valid as others and that history should never be sanitized or biased or tilted in the favor of colonization. History should be what it is, the good, the bad and the ugly. Granted, I do try to save the more...violent or gruesome stuff for when she's older. Right now, I want to inspire in her a curiosity and an interest in the cultures and things that have come before us. <3

I got a truth based and also Christian owned government curriculum that is fun, very hands on and absolutely amazing! My third grader absolutely needs to know about government and economics more than ever! Especially prior to this election. My child needs to feel involved and ready for what’s going on around her. Kids are amazing at critical thinking… so many times when I find myself trapped leaning towards a political side and it is my children then pull me back to the ground and remind me to stay aligned with my spiritual path and I realized how much I needed all of my family when it comes to my political involvement, especially my children. They are our future. They often humble me more than I ever thought they could in situations I thought they wouldn’t understand. Ignorant of me! I will continue with government and will put our Bible studies first so we can properly prepare our hearts for the rest of our education and our day to day lives ❤

Yep, let's indoctrinate our kids with our own mindset because something makes us uncomfortable or upsets Jesus. jfc. I grew up homeschooled and once I went out into the real world, realized how much this garbage held me back. I had to re-learn many things thanks to this garbage movement brought on by Christians and their paranoid ideas that school was turning kids liberal. If you want your kids to despise you in the end, keep going down this road.

As an Orthodox Christian there is no curriculum that reflects my faith and beliefs. So for me, I have to adjust alot. i don't like secular curriculum but curriculum that is created by a Christian is really important to me, I just prefer for it to be not too dogmatic. So Sonlight works for me, Beautiful Feet but My Fathers World I had to pass on. So I am saying this just to encourage some who cannot find that exact fit for their beliefs that you can adjust things. I don't use the Bible stuff from Sonlight and if we come across something I don't agree with in any curriculum I use it as a way of teaching. However, I don't want to do this constantly. So I agree if something is really far from your convictions than that can be really hard, but sometimes there are just a few things that can be worked around. I have to do this all the time as an Orthodox Christian.

We are a Christian family, we used some TGATB curriculums in our homeschool. We didn’t find any issue with it. If someone doesn’t feel in peace with a piece of paper, I strongly recommend that person to examine his/her conscience and heart. It’s very sad how some people trash another religions just because it doesn’t align with yours.

Yes! #3! I know exactly what you are talking about and there is no shame in warning your Christian brothers and sisters about it! In fact, you should.
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." Galatians 1:6-10

Okay, so what's a good alternative that hits the "all in one approach" that TGATB does? What's as simple, easy, and engaging as thst curriculum and completely Christian? I'm new, i have a 4 year old, and I just genuinely want to know what is wrong with it, and what people are doing instead. We just bought the preschool curriculum and my sister enjoyed the 2nd and 5th grade curriculum. We are strong Christians. Am I missing something other than it's made by LDS publishers?

Hi. Thank you so much for bring up the points, especially on not choosing a curriculum that you feel convicted about, and making the point, that if you don't feel comfortable, you should not use it. I have especially been down this road myself, and having to change, and pray about what we are using. Its so important, as you said, to remember that we are influencing others, especially our family, with what we are using. Thank you again, you literally helped me make a decision about something I was really prayerfully pondering over myself as a curriculum choice.❤

If Jeremiah learns about government and history this year then as we're experiencing what's going on next year, he'll have a much better context. Especially when he has to interact with other people. I try to study up on things before I'm actually immersed in them. But that's just me

Ladies, please don’t judge a religion by what you hear others say. If you haven’t read the Book of Mormon, if you’ve never met with missionaries, if you’ve never learned about what we believe from our sources then maybe you have some biases. If you honestly want to learn about Christianity, you wouldn’t ask an atheist. It’s best to go to the source, truly desiring to understand. I know that can be scary and it’s easier to have your misconceptions perpetuated but just looking into what we believe doesn’t mean you have to agree. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I can tell you that we are really nice people who get a lot of misinformation about what we believe. I watch a lot of other religions and whenever they talk about us it’s always so distorted or blatantly untrue. We love the Bible and know the Bible well, we believe the Book of Mormon strengthens the truths in the Bible and bears powerful witness of Jesus Christ. Yes, it sounds crazy that Joseph Smith translated a book from ancient America but the Old and New Testament is full of seemingly crazy things that the spirit bears witness of. God has always had prophets so why not now? Just don’t hate us unless you yourself have looked into our teachings and know what we’re about. Don’t take other peoples word for it❤ I hear a lot of home school Christian’s drop TGATB because it was made by a “Mormon” but I have only ever seen generic Christian beliefs. It’s a great Christian’s based curriculum.

I bought old college textbooks from seven grade (100 level) to twelve grade (college level above 100 level). I never paid more than $50.00 a school year for textbooks. When you buy a curriculum they charge you for creating the course and answer keys. Do your own outlines and tests and supplement with khan academy and crash course. Have the student write eight to ten question per subtitle than combine all the question for your tests. The student can go through the books slowly to make sure they comprehend the college textbooks.

I am sooo glad I found this video! I was completely overwhelmed by the thought of homeschooling. It was never in my plan but God's plan is greater so I found myself trying to find simple curriculum. It was discouraging to find how expensive everything was and also time consuming with lesson plans designed to take 4 hours a day for kindergarten!? I checked out the free resources and through Easy Peasy finally settled on the Genesis curriculum- complete, 1 page a day for 3 yr olds and only $16 new. I like to get caught up in the "pretty" graphics of the more expensive options, but you brought me back down to earth and reminded me to stick with my budget and values- opting for simple rather that an overloaded toddler!

The word is “Conflicted” not “Convinced” 🤦🏻‍♀️ SMV.

“Convictions” was the proper use of the word. Look up the definition.

A religious individual having feelings of conflict, discomfort or uneasiness about something due to an internal conflict of their personal beliefs system would feel “conflicted” not “convicted.”

“Convicted” is not a feeling, it is a verb meaning (according to Miriam Webster’s Dictionary)

Transitive verb:

To find guilty (as in a court of law.)

To convince of error or sinfulness (as in a formal religion based judgement ruling - ex: guilty of heresy, an unforgettable sin resulting in shunning or excommunication, mostly used in archaic times or super dogmatic religions.)

Intransitive verb:

To find a defendant guilty. (As in a court of law.)

I’d really like to know what the 3rd curriculum was. Religious homeschoolers could save money by not purchasing it.

What a scattered video.

I’m not quick to trust a homeschooler that doesn’t know the correct definition of the words they are using. I’m looking for advice from an intelligent person.

Please consider editing this video to add credibility to the content on your channel.

Have a blessed day. 🙏🏼
