Evolving AIs - Predator vs Prey, who will win?

Now I want to see you combine this with something that influences prey and predator stats. Like, they have a chance to become faster at the cost of using more energy, or they can have a larger max energy at the cost of reproducing taking longer. Maybe width of view vs length of view would also be a scale.

I love how this so clearly shows how natural selection is not the same thing as the scam theory of evolution. You never see either the predator or prey becoming something outside of their design, but they are always optimizing within their species. Also the whole simulation couldn't have happened by random chance, and requires intelligent input and design.

The same it works in real environment.

I haven't seen anyone comenting on this, but I think it is really interesting that the only time the predators don't give enought time to the prey to reach it's top population the predators end up disappearing. Seems like these two populations are balancing themselves but the faster raise of predators also unbalanced everything.

What if preys start to become predators when they have energy source and it depletes?

It's interesting how herding and pack hunting evolved. Id like to see them change colors sometimes so we could see the lineages

You ahould make the prey eyes closer when they get close instead to make a fear effect

I made a simulation like this in unity for my high school programming class. We used basic unity capsule meshes & colliders, and had 4 basic stats (linear speed, rotational speed, size, and predatory behavior).

All simulations started with a single object with 1 stats in the center, and food would randomly appear around the simulation area, and the object would path to the nearest food (rechecking every second or so), and if predatory behavior was about .3 points above other foods they would be considered food as well. Upon hitting a food threshold equal to its size it would split in half, and each half would have a random multiplier of the parent’s stats from .95 to 1.05. Stats were also associated with colors, so after a while you would see massive waves of really small fast capsules, and really large, slower capsules that grazed off of them.

It's curious how the predators started hunting in packs. Not through a decision or order. Simply because chance dictated that to be a viable outcome

the prey winning makes sense since whenever the hunters are about to win there is a mass death of hunters due to no food vs only a single prey needing to survive for a win. id say 24/25 times the prey would win. would love to see the real data on this

They kinda remind me when sharks feed and big schools of fish

Im sure someone has mentioned it, how difficult would enabling predators to eat each other when close to low energy?

This made me realize how valuable FAT is for predators. Sometimes a brief period of starvation killed one with an otherwise great network.

Great fun programming project.
But in the end does either side really win?
I guess the predators should then start eating each other.

this was quite interesting and surprisingly realistic but I wish the predators and prey could go over carrying capacity and then die out when food runs low or too many predators are created

Next you have to add food or water points for the prey to go to to survive...... Then have these points move around (migrate?) and see if the prey Will still win.

if predators and preys made a deal to always let atleast one prey left or make the predators eat preys when needed it would be a better life

If you do this again, you should add an apex predator, who reproduces slower but can eat everything.

I wish the pupils got smaller when predators were closer, would have been way funnier.

Were just the random updates with the pressure of surviving enough to train the networks or was there anything in addition to that?

Very interesting concept. Would you be able to have aggression in predators? So it would select either territorial predators or peaceful ones. Personally I think during abundance it would be selecting for the peaceful ones and during crisis they would start making territories.

1 - too much food, too few predators
2 - predators populations increases, preys population decreases
3 - too few food, too much predators,
4 - prey population increases, predators population decreases. and repeat

I gotta see what happens if you put an evolved predator brain in the body of prey and vice versa

Can the creatures differentiate between fellow prey and hunter?

Idea: if there are 20 or over preys in a group the predators get scared
