As a weapon it's basically useless, as it's got a high learning curve and you spend most of your time hitting yourself. Even this so-called master is having problems controling it

I died laughing at "Is it very effective / cool looking" xD xD personally i think if you are fast enough anything can be a weapon . Especially something like the nunchaku that can be more unpredictable than lets say a stick .

I liked this hier from Brasil.

Dont get me wrong flipping the nunchucks are great.. But i have learned what bruce taught. Keep what is useful and discard what isnt. And most flipping of nunchucks are just for show. Though i agree most will flee if you can pull off a nice twirl. I hate to see the day I must defend myself with them. I have 3 pairs. All wooden. One is over 7 inches long with metal weights. Ouchy
Also about what you are teaching..
I've been told by cops when ive had problems that that require the use of my nunchucks. Do not ever if possible strike them in their head or face area. Nunchucks can and will cause blunt force trauma and if you end up causing their deaths its the same as stabbing them or shooting them. But like i told the cops. I dont have a gun I have knives and I'd rather knock some people senseless then be forced to end their lives. I was told that as long as I do not get killed in the process and do not unintentionally kill the attacker/attacker's i have a good chances in court. Also one thing ive learned is misdirection. Learn to trick someone. Hold the chucks a certain way to make them think your going to hit one area when in fact you are going for another one entirely. Has worked almost every time ive tested the theory. Great lessons. Hope to start my own dojo of sorts soon

I have a nuchaku at home, it's made by the same material of tonfa, I think it's very heavy.

What sense does it make when you hold it so close to the chain? You have less reach and you lose the extra acceleration it could have by being made och two sticks.
A straight baton has more reach and more impact when you do it that way.

You loose a lot of power and reach holding them like that. It is good for tricks, but not so good for fighting. IMHO. You seem to make it work pretty good though. 👍
