We fix every common problem with Toyota's 3.5L V6 Engine 2GR-FE. The 2GR-FE is a very popular Toyota and Lexus engine used in many models.

We start by removing the engine out of the car and tackling the first task which is the head gaskets, Then the variable valve timing gears which rattle on cold start. Then we take care of some oil leaks and assemble the whole engine back.

Can a 2GR-FE engine be used to replace a 3MZ in a 2006 Sienna given the entire wire harness and ECU are intact on the 2GR-FE?

We have a 2009 Sport with 278K miles on it. 5K oil changes, regular maint. Replaced alternator last year and plastic heater tees for rear heater core this year after they began leaking. So sad to the engine go away after the 22 Highlander. Like an old refrigerator , they don’t make them like this anymore.

nice engine. my 5.3 LS has a little piston slap when cold and so does my 4.3 vortec. both 12 and 26 years old, respectively, and have over 400k miles combined.

I have an 06 Rav4 that I picked up with 160k on the clock and the cold start up rattle. It now has almost 260k and rattles on almost every start. I guess I'm about defcon2 with this thing.😢

Fine rubber oil line on 2011 Highlander gave up in traffic, a few yards from shop that replaced it. The engine was bone dry. They do so many they keep them in stock. It was aftermarket aluminum part. Fit perfectly. Still runs two years later, although a bit more noisy. Also learned later the part was under recall if you have a Lexus. Toyoda said kick rocks. The thing is the worst driving, worst riding, most uncomfortable car I have ever been in, while the Warden thinks it's fabulous.

I have this engine in a 2012 Lexus rx350. It’s been cranking longer than normal to start. It’s got roughly 160,000 miles on it and I did replace the spark plugs at about 130,000. Any suggestions on what could be causing that

It was a great decision on the part of the owner. No way he could trade up for $7K. Car looks well cared for, so why not? Would more regular car washes help with the rust underneath?

That was quite a job. I hear you about prep for that sealer to work... I just can't imagine how awful it would feel to start up that fresh engine and see oil weeping out of the front cover. Was wondering about the timing chain replacement, but you explained that it was the owner that wanted them replaced. 22hrs labor for that job is a bargain for sure. I know you have done a video on bleeding the V6 cooling system, but am wondering about bleeding the cooling system on my lovely 2.4L 09 Camry that is ready for a new radiator. What is that procedure, have you done a video for the 2.4L? I was finally able to borrow my buddy's garage and ramps and tackled all the rusted out oil pan bolts. Amazingly enough, I was able to get them all out and replace them, so the future oil pan replacement won't be a big deal. The poor 2.4L still gets about 2500-3000 miles before being down a quart, no engine/warranty piston/ring job was ever done. I will save money this winter for a newer used Camry next summer I guess. Glad this job went well, I understand being apprehensive before that start up for sure!

My 09 HL Base Model does not have the oil cooler. Currently running at 180k. I owned it since day 1 and I do not have the rattle. Looks like I am the few lucky ones. Only premature failure I had was the water pump at 60k and idle/tensioner/alternator bearings all went bad (started to chirp/squeak) at 175k. At this rate, the HL is built to last.

Hello CCN. I very much enjoy your channel. Though I'm far from even a DIY mechanic, I enjoy watching someone who is a pro. Have you ever done a video on how to clean and detail a Toyota engine? I have a 2011 Toyota Venza with a 2GR-FE engine like in this vehicle. It's got 102K and needs a good engine clean. But how and what products??? Thank you again.

My V6 Rav has the electric steer system, 06-12. When you recharge the AC, people talk about contaminating their machine like when people use the charge in a can products. If the system was purged into a separate system outside of your AC charge equipment, does that make your AC charging system not be contaminated? Because I had service and they had to vent my system and them recharge it. It appeared to be done correctly, vacuum for 30 minutes and then charged like 14 oz but it's not as cool now and I wonder if they damaged it with a contaminated system? Assuming they didn't create leaks in their service.

I've owned a few Toyota cars. Two of them are Camry. One of them is the first from Japan small long bed Toyota pickup. All of them went well above 200,000 miles. None of them had any problem with the engines except small stuffs like cover leaks with simple fix. My last Camry is 2011 which I still own. My 2001 Camry went above 330.000 miles before I sold it. There was no leaks or any major repair on the engine at all. It was still running quietly. Yes, there were problems with emission components. That was not a major repair. My question is this. Why is this new Highlander have this problem already after 12 years.
This tends to worry me a little. I thought about this for a long time about this before I bought a 2023 Toyota RAV 4 hybrid. I love to keep my car for a long time. Will my new RAV 4 last a long time?
