Loved that skin polisher washcloth
ОтветитьI worked at the Body Shop in London 1993-1994. This is really disappointing as I really believed in the 'message'.
ОтветитьI remember when body shop was bought by L’Oréal. That was so against the body shop business model that their watered explanations just didn’t get to me, and sincerely compared to Lush - body shop don’t really feel that different to cosmetic from Boots or Superdrug.
ОтветитьAre you sweating?
Ответитьignorant JK never did a transphobic tweet. So ignorant. Go to read the tweet.
ОтветитьThank you for this very informative video! I am going to stop buying their products!
ОтветитьI understand the rental costs are probably low but not reconsidering the name "Body Shop" while being between 2 funeral parlours is devious💀
ОтветитьThe Body Shop was massive here in Australia too. British stores will often has a presence here, and Australian stores (like Typo) often has a presence in the UK. The markets are very similar.
ОтветитьThis is soo interesting!! She started green washing us from way back ! 🫠
Side note I wish I had a British accent 😂😅
I work across the street from a The Body Shop, and there's a sign that said "closed forever" and theirs still products in the shop !!!
ОтветитьOH, JAMES!!! EXCELLENT VIDEO & BRILLIANT SERIES!!! 🎉
ОтветитьYour skin though 😮 I need to know everything you use, all cosmetic procedures, facials. I’m obsessed
Ответитьbath n body works is the same
Ответитьwait til you hear my dirt on Lush
ОтветитьI worked for The Body Shop for about a year and a half until last year, I had a manager position. When I tell you I'm so glad I left I mean it with my entire being, especially since I was gone before the shitstorm with Aurelius happened. Shady practices from headquarters, never paying overtime on time (employees had to wait months), employee shortages so being forced to work alone, never receiving any compliments when you did really well but as soon as your kpi's were a little below the targets you were put on a watch list as a store and you'd get e-mails demanding an explanation for it while pushing to sell more plus you'd get called out during teams meetings, not receiving bonuses.... all that for minimum wage. The only nice thing about working there was my team and the free products. Manager meetings were very cult like too. Went to visit old collegues and they know NOTHING. HQ tells employees absolutely nothing. Deliveries used to be weekly, now it's a guessing game. They don't know what to tell people why they still don't have any stock and they're being trained by HQ through managers to tell people nothing's wrong when asked about the situation. I only stayed so long because I needed a job...
ОтветитьCaught one of my first perfume there was like coconut musk or something but I didn’t really like it. I was told to get used to it it was just cause it was healthy and we all used to fake products. We think we like it’s better for me so I wore it like I liked it and I never did.
ОтветитьWOW what an interesting story !!! And how sad that once again... it's all just another lie.
ОтветитьBuy from the face shop instead 😂
Ответить90s teen... Loved The Body Shop. Used to collect the flat round plastic keychains. Too distracted by James' glass skin to listen 😍
ОтветитьI cannot believe we still have stores here in Australia...... Just wow. These people are despicable. BTW im here for your investigation style, hilarious, personable yet professional
ОтветитьI use to love body shop but thank you for showing me the truth
ОтветитьThe products just are not good
ОтветитьWhat is on your face james ? How are SHINING like thaaat ???
ОтветитьPlease do Lush!
ОтветитьI'm 42 ad autistic, take this for what it is. All I can hear is John Williams' Star Wars theme due to the lightsabers on your cheeks n nose. Why? But moreso, how? Do you steak pure silicone across your skin as a highlighter? Dry your face sweetie, you're cute.
ОтветитьNever liked the shop when they started. Some fake .. natural but not and to expensive for lower grade stuff.
Glad they left our city.
😂😂
wish youd mentioned the shady MLM too but theres a lot to cover in one video! Its been sad to see them fall so far and so fast when they really could have turned things around at some point
Ответить„A fucking castle in Scotland” sent me
ОтветитьTheir stuff smelled awesome in the 80s/90s and then they got sold off to L'Oreal or some other company and it all detiriorated. I recently bought White Musk shower gel and the smell is not the same anymore. I guess the EU also banned lots of substances. I will never buy anything again. - Oh, seems that they are closed already. Well, no loss. Like you said, Lush is much better now, Body Shop failed to transition into new times. Fun fact on the side: In my hometown The Body Shop moved from a much bigger store into a tiny store that used to be a Laura Ashley store back in the 80s. Another sad story. Like Crabtree & Evelyn. So many stories about once thriving companies.
ОтветитьI’m sorry,..but what is on your face 😮?! Please do share the glow🤩!
ОтветитьI bought a face powder from this brand about 30 years ago. I did give me the ugliest rash and I never get rashes, I don't have sensitive skin. I thought, that they should at least use ingredients, that are known to be safe. Never bought anything from this brand ever since.
ОтветитьI was first turned on to the Body Shop by a friend who traveled to the UK quite frequently. The Dewberry! Then not long after I orked a Summer with a bunch of other college kids from the UK on a work/travel thing and they all had Body Shop stuff--they couldn't beleive we didn't have it in the US. And I must note they were the firsr vegetarians I had ever met. I rememer the girls being really in to the banana and carrot stuff...When they came to the US...yep it was huge. WE all wore the oils and when they got rid of htem, well that's when we all stopped shopping there. I only bought things from their factory outlet next to a job i hated.. I will always miss their mango body butter and hemp hand cream, but oh well. And yes-the basket. Thing is we actually used the stuff vs B&BW shit that got shoved under the bathroom sink because they smell good but those lotions are not moisurtizing. I even recently tried a body cream, and maybe for a night but otherwise not for daily use
ОтветитьI’m from Brasil, I didn’t even know that natura (a company from my country) had sold The Body Shop, but that makes sense. I really liked their products and used them constantly, until about 2022/2023, when I went to refill one of my products and it sucked!! I thought that my skin was rejecting it because I used it for so long, so I didn’t buy anymore, but it makes more sense that the products changed.
ОтветитьI only hope I won't find out the same development about Lush in 10, 20 years ..
ОтветитьWe just marked down all of the body shop at Ulta ...
Ответитьits kinda creepy to name it the body shop… when its where its at
ОтветитьI was an actual child when I first started buying their products, and the internet didn't exist. When I was in my late teens and could make more informed decisions, I learned that animal testing was even a THING, and I was happy to be a customer of theirs and then spent MORE money there than with other brands. When they sold their company to one that tests (2006, eh?), I boycotted and haven't shopped there since. It was sort of an introduction to greed for me, and it really confused me and broke my heart. Years later, I still do all I can do avoid companies (and those with parent companies who test, because the money goes all the way to the top), and be an informed consumer. I realize there is no perfect company, especially when it comes to the ethics of sourcing ingredients, and I do my best to stay informed about companies selling to bigger ones, and shifting where I spend my money, know I cannot do it 100% the way I would want. If we're trying to do things that align with our values, it matters on some level, even if it doesn't change the world.
Ответитьsomeday people will learn that ethical or anticapitalist corporations do not exist
ОтветитьWow I'm actually excited to support the Body Shop now! Sounds like they have come a long way and I'm excited all their products are now vegan.
Edit- oh dang, I just got to the Aurelius part of the video 😢
Wow, how interesting! I boycotted them when they were sold to L'Oreal, but had no idea about all the rest !
All I can say is Long Live Lush !!
That woman was dishonest from the word GO. That stuff always comes back to bite you.
ОтветитьThank you. Actually, as a horse person I only know of one person riding from Buenos Aires to New York and that was Aimé Tschiffely, a Swiss teacher living in Argentina, in 1925.
What was your source that Gordon Roddick did it too, because I can´t find anything about that?
Personally I don´t care where a beautystore is located. It is hard enough for anyone to get a spot anywhere, it was the same then.
Why are you so shiny?
Your skin in this video is just magical
ОтветитьBody Shop anecdote from Sweden in the 90's, pre-digitailzation. I sent in a pre-paid customer opinion form where I wrote that their self-tanner didn't smell of "fresh watermelon" but very heavily of chemicals. Also, it gave me a headache. I promptly was sent a raging hand-written note from the Swedish CEO (who looked like Umbridge in the pic) where she told me off: I was wrong. The self-tanner was great with a fresh watermelon smell! How dare I! A few months later the product vanished from the shops, and was relaunched without the heavy toxic smell.
Body Shop reminds me of a cult or MLM (which it was).
Why you so greasy?
ОтветитьI have recently been made redundant and never sent my p60
Fuck you body shop
'''Naming it the BODY SHOP between two funeral parlors… '' GENIOUS, GOOD OLD DARK HUMOR! Thats good marketing alright, all the shock value.
ОтветитьThis makes me so freaking sad because my dry ass skin really really likes the body butters and lotions 🥹
ОтветитьI stopped using The Body Shop after it was bought by L’Oreal!
Ответить
