I'm strangely unable to win the Civil War, for unknown reasons, AI seems always and in every scenario, able to push me back and win.
So I have a new idea. Since I'm allied with Germany... may I conquer some territories in Europe and forge a new "Confederacy" there?

Just yesterday I had an idea for a mod. What if the states were like a new level below integrated puppet and there would be lots of stuff about public opinions and uhh yeah I forgot everything else

The mod also gets a lot of things wrong. Particularly in that the North started the war by trying to resupply Fort Sumter (which was a State fort, not a federal one and was illegally occupied by federal forces), that the South was better organized, better led, and better trained, and that the North largely only held on by forcible draft and dint of industry. Up until Gettysburg, it was the South's war to lose.

Lincoln was pro slavery. He repeatedly vowed to protect the rights of slave states and slave owners. However, he was a staunch Unionist and Federalist, meaning he rejected the right of states to decide the issue (this is actually much more prickly than it sounds). Lincoln's position was that slavery was immoral and inefficient, but that it should not be destroyed in the South by Federal force, as that risked a Civil War and as a Unionist he strongly believed the US should be re-united despite the costs. He also blocked bills to end slavery in slave states under Union occupation and in slave states that sided with the Union, with the emancipation proclamation being largely symbolic and propagandistic in nature (later turning into a war measure to deny and destroy Southern agriculture and industry).

The steam version which is the version I presume you are playing is actually fairly out of date development wise as they have a public form of manual download via their gitbub where they develop the mod.

Usually when I play the github version I wait about a month before getting the new version as they are constantly adding new stuff, I'm pretty excited to see the expansion in alt history they plan to add to both Germany, Italy, US and China as the last time I got the github version the Taiping rebellion had a focus tree.

I can't have fun when I play these campaigns because the CSA can't achieve its victory conditions. When I play as Nazi Germany I get cool Reichskommisariats like they might have wanted. That big gray empire you get when the south wins in Paradox games is silly and ahistorical. Maybe give an option to do that but for the Confederate States to fight such a big war and then you can't avoid the game keeping you federalized forever feels totally pointless. If this had happened the states would have just rebelled again against the new union to be almost completely independent of each other like they wanted. Maybe even have unique CSA alliance mechanics after that as it was a very unique alliance in that the member nations all had the same language and culture and would be merged into a unified structure during wartime. Similar to the "China Unites" event China used to get before Waking The Tiger.

While we're on the subject of unpopular ideologies having some good points and it doesn't bother me as much but in the New World Order mod just like that on that amazon show about this, there's always a civil war after Hitler dies. I find that very unlikely. Despite the many flaws of Nazism there are direct and effective tools for peaceful transition of government even to a different government type. On Hitler's death there would have been fresh elections for a new government to form. To skip or too heavily influence these elections would have been a direct violation of every page of the fascist manifesto and of the stated Nazi party platform. There's no need to take wild artistic liberty to make an actually evil, genocidal regime like Nazi Germany look cartoonishly evil instead.
