What Vicky 3 is missing is more flavor, more flavor, better diplomacy/spheres/puppets system, more interaction with the economy and pops. Get those and it's in a fantastic state.

It’s still bland and boring. Every big state plays the same and the small states are as exciting as watching paint dry.

The only major gripe I had with Vic3 on release was the borked international trade system. There was never any incentive to produce anything for export, you were always better off chasing self-sufficiency. Setting up import routes was effectively stealing from the target country, making their economy worse to benefit yours.

The key failure was the lack of any kind of system to handle foreign trade imbalances. In the real world this is what currency exchange rates do. If you import more than you export, the value of your currency drops and your imports decrease and your exports increase until they balance again. So exports are very valuable.

In the victorian era it was precious metal reserves instead of exchange rates, if you kept importing more than you exported, you would run out of gold and silver and no longer be able to import. This the who reason the British started smuggling opium into China, they didnt have anything else to export to pay for all the tea.

Has anything been improved in this area so far? I havent been keeping up for a while.

I personally really enjoy Victoria now. Army system is alright too, it still has stupid sht going on here and there, but overall it's alright. I would even dare to say Vic 3 is the most interesting paradox game at the moment.

1.5.X has been extremely buggy so far. I'm going to expect that this tanks his opinion in this video.
Finally weeks later 1.5.10 seems to have fixed mostly everything absolutely broken about the game

The war is basically the same thing with the ability to go in a direction. For instance, if you are winning a war you are just going to win. Didn't prepare enough for a war you are going to lose. You cannot micro yourself out of a war in order to win it really. Its like improving from a D- war system to a C-. rating.
I still don't know why they don't have scripted events really like the crimean war or ages/wars that have to be done, ww1, franco-prussian war, american civil war. The Ai is really bad at completing journals so things just become watching each others gdps go up essentially. Yes the UI and mechanics have improved but the flavor of being immersed in the world or story of your nation is really bad and shallow. CK3 hits home with the immersion and story of a nation/kingdom. They can do it but they had a bad start and should just go onto eu5 at this point.

I played the new update as Prussia and tried to unify Germany. The combined might of all the German states, Russia, the UK, and France could not move a single tile into Austria despite being outnumbered 4 to 1. War is still broken.

Other developers need to learn from Paradox we don’t wanna hear a game is perfect bc no game is we love seeing a real review! Props Paradox!

It took them one year to move one step in the direction that everyone told them was the best idea initially anyways. I kind of wonder if the Vic3 defenders like this update, because they kind of got their foot shoved in their mouth from this.

Emperor Norton's actually my ancestor, no joke. He was beloved by his people and fought diplomatically for them in the government, although he stated the government was illegitimate and that he was the true emperor, nobody's perfect.

Liked the old army system better, but other than that changes are good.

Agitators DLC Breaks the game and is a complete waste of money. Pretty much the whole world to be In revolution multiple times I think France had about six of them and tag change in a 3 year span. Just ridiculous.
