I remember friends of mine going to see his concert at Nassau Coliseum in East Meadow, when the unspeakable happened, he was killed in traffic accident with a truck. It's seems like yesterday. I also used his fathers book(Jim Chapin) Rudiments of Drumming or something like that when I used to practice the drums. A lot was lost that day in the summer of 81. RIP Harry you were more liked then you ever knew.

SOBER UP & END THE SELF PITY. We all make mistakes. She was bad news & she ain't “acting happy” - she IS happy with STUFF somebody else paid for. Throw the $20 back at her & drive off.

Ah the early seventies when music could still be good.

I am 71 years old and still love his songs. I went to his concert once and he stepped on my foot.

I REMEMBER DRIVING AT NIGHT HOPING THIS WOUKD COME ON THE RADIO. THE LONG VERSION ONLY CAME ON AT NIGHT. TIMES REALLY CHANGED

Recently saw a guy i dated in hs i cooled him off then i was not ready for a serious beau at that time . He is a success business man and happily married father. I am sure he is a millionaire and i am a struggling single woman. Whatever we had ince was gone totally relatable

Never amazes to surprise me what they choose to get emotional about..

Fifty years ago, I was stationed at the Sub base at Groton, CT. A couple of buddies and I rented an apartment in Norwich. A young lady living nextdoor introduced me to a friend of hers. We hit it off right away. She introduced me to so much music. Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver and a guy who had come out with a song called Taxi. Harry Chapin's music blew me away! I love all of his music is great, but Taxi, has to be the best. I listen to it and I'm 50 years younger, sitting a darkened apartment, listening to music with wonderful, young lady. Thanks for the memories Harry Chapin.

I saw Harry in concert 3 times with a good friend, when we heard that Harry had died we were together and we were just stunned into silence. We still talk about the concerts and how great he was

Lunch on 61 I drove a taxi in Northern Ontario while my sister was pregnant with my niece waiting for the pop out and I this is the time I went to college and I I met people I used to know and like many years you know I haven't been back to that part of the country they looked at me I remember this one lady said to me she's like a granny from bugs Bunny that kind and she's looking at me and I can see her in the mirror she's in the back seat and she says what what do you get out of this job and I looked at her and I said I get 5 or 10 minutes of your life

It never would have worked out for them. She would have always had her nagging questions unanswered had she and Harry stayed together.
There would always be tension in the relationship which would turn to resentment and eventually hatred for “settling” on love instead of the fantasy of fame.

What a story he could tell. There will be only one Harry C. His wife Sandra who also wrote songs is still alive at 89. She apparently never remarried.

This was one of my mothers very favorite songs…it always makes me think of her.

Friends and I were to see him live, Hampton Beach NH... There was a note on the door, Mr Chapin passed in bad car crash !!! No one spoke for hours !!!
