ОтветитьHave you fellows ever played the 1988 335 showcase with active pickups............ mine sounds killer
ОтветитьI recently walked into a music shop intent on buying another strat. Thought I’d play a 335 just for “comparison”. iv always loved the sound and look of them but figured they were way out of my budget.
After one touch to the neck I new this was going to be an expensive visit to the music shop. It was love at first note for my vintage burst satin finish 335.
OMG Pete! Such tasty demo stuff when doing the comparison. Beautiful playing on these phenomenal guitars! LOVE the 335’s.
ОтветитьAlvin Lee made that colour famous! He's one of the most underated players of his era, original player and amazing voice!

If you want some good ones
Sometimes chalk, sometimes cheese. That’s what I always say. Depends on my mood and how hungry I am.
ОтветитьThe best Gibson, the 335
ОтветитьCould buy a Gibson, but if a Sire is good enough for mr 335, Larry Carlton its good enough for most people and at least 3k cheaper, regardless of brand, find the one that works for you, very versatile guitar, but a Tele with a P90 in neck is my most versatile guitar.
ОтветитьMaple poplar maple ploploploplo😂👌
ОтветитьGuaranteed to give any man wood. 😂
ОтветитьI’ve never met a semi hollow that I could get along with. 335 or 339. I’m an SG/LP guy myself. Maybe in the future. 😊
ОтветитьThe guitar sniffing in this video is out of control.
.... And I love it
The Gibson '64 ES335 Custom is the holy grail so is the PRICE!
ОтветитьShout out to the ‘64. Got mine a year ago, my first semi-hollow. I couldn’t try out all 3 models for various reasons so I had to rely on video reviews that all sounded mediocre thru a tablet. I got the sense that the ‘64 had controllable bite if you need it and still have all the warmth. To my ears, the ‘59 had a bit more of the lower frequencies while the ‘61 sounded brighter. I did notice the nylon saddles on the ‘64 but didn’t give it much thought. I still haven’t personally played the other 2 models but I don’t regret picking the ‘64. The unwieldy (for the slight) body size gives me pause but the tones are worth it. Thankfully the ‘64 neck profile suits me well so it softens this misgiving.
ОтветитьFor 3 thousand dollars can’t they use mother of pear inlays
ОтветитьI've never understood exactly if the ES-335 (and similar models) as well as being iconic is the most versatile guitar, but it certainly has its own great personality and simply wonderful features... I have one that I use to record my songs and for some sounds it's really ideal.
ОтветитьMaaaan, that intro was the bomb, sounded so good!
ОтветитьLove it when the Captain does his killer, soulful old school lead guitar solos. Unlike the mechanical sound of most latter day players, he always sounds fresh, soulful and satisfying, playing just the right notes with just the right phrasing, never over or underplaying. That takes REAL talent, and so as a result and unlike many other players on his show, he never has to show off. Once he starts playing you hear REAL blues rock sound, the kind that takes real hippies and the young ones as well, back to the 'daze' when human beings were actually in love with each other, and everyone knows it and can sense it in Lee's playing. You can almost see the black light posters and smell the pot and incense burning, when he plays. I wish he'd play more often.
ОтветитьI hope you did buy that red one Pete, it spoke to you Pete, it said: Keep me as yours, I can do no more than I have done to appeal to you Pete! 😊❤👌
ОтветитьWhy not produce just custom shop guitars. Price could come down and everyone could own a decent guitar.
ОтветитьI played a real 1959 Gibson 335 many years back in a music store small music store and a black guy stuck his head in the door and said who's playing that saxophone I said it's this Gibson he goes dang I could have sworn that was a saxophone I was hearing pretty amazing guitar 7,200 back in I think it was around 1983 that was like a fortune to me but that was one sweet original 1959 Gibson es 335 anyway
ОтветитьHow about the most iconic shuggie Otis the al cooper session's HUH?
ОтветитьThe Telecaster is the most versatile guitar
ОтветитьOf my 30 guitars, the 335 is by far the most versatile ..it handles everything and is easy to play all night
ОтветитьDidn't Alex Lifeson of RUSH play the awesome opening riff to Limelight on a 335?
Ответитьthey had to call it that because it wasnt a hawaiin guitar. but you knew that!!!
ОтветитьThe biggest issue with 335s is most of them aren’t good, I’ve played probably a couple thousand of them and only a few have that mojo… what really sucks is I can’t afford the few I’ve found that slam 😩 Someone please donate $70,000 so I can be happy 😊….
ОтветитьAs much as I’m a Gibson lover, the Fender Strat is clearly the most versatile guitar in history
ОтветитьWhat an amazing guitar! Love it! Great video as well!
ОтветитьNice some blues playing, but it does not justify the title. I still don't know whether it is 'most versatile?'?
Ответитьhow about the 335 against a fender strat
ОтветитьI have a washburn hb35 and oscar Schmidt blues king. Both 335 copies. Seymour pups. Satisfied and don't want or need a Gibson 335.
ОтветитьOne pickup Les Paul Junior is most versatile, P90, volume and tone controls give everything you ever need
ОтветитьMAN OH F@#%'G MAN! I'LL TAKE A HALF A DOZEN PLEASE.
ОтветитьSo much money for a non-vintage instrument man but it sounds perfect. Especially the 64
ОтветитьHow do you change out a bad switch or pot on one of these?
ОтветитьI ended up with Yamaha SA2200… by far the most versatile guitar I own AND the one all my sons mates take off the wall first 😂
But I’ve got a Godin LGX with the acoustic bridge pickup and that is scary versatile!!
Even Larry Carlton chose 335 for its versatility during his session era in the 80’s :)
Ответить59 all day long
ОтветитьPete's playing always makes me smile!
ОтветитьTo my ears the 64 red sounded the best. As far as looks it doesn’t really matter when you actually start testing and playing to check out what they have to offer sound wise. Once you figure out what you like there; it then becomes looking at appearances and what you could live with. After that it’s a question of the price and what your willing to spend.
Ответитьthey are stradivaris.
ОтветитьAwesome. This is one of my favorite guitars.
ОтветитьA 335 with p90 dogears is the best, to bad they don't offer options like ebony fretboard rectangles inley and 3 colors choices for the guitar!
