My cat, Pol, makes a new sibling in the backyard. A stray kitten somehow managed to find its way in and show Pol a way out. It's been going on for a few days. The kitten is the only animal Pol will tolerate in his presence. As thanks, Pol adopted him into our house. I have no say in this whatsoever.

That's not how you introduce cats to each other.

I have 2 rescue cats that are lookalikes!☺️, except the other way around - the lighter one being the older one and behaving like the more ginger cat here to his younger sibling. Lovely video - I felt I was looking at my 2!

Just a few days ago I got a 2 and a half month old kitten to keep my cat of 8 years company as he had separation anxiety when people were away from the house. Within only about 5 days they are getting along amazingly, especially considering my 8 year old cat has been a single cat for most of his life. I introduced my cat to the kitten from a cat carrier and let them watch each other until the kitten got closer and they started to hiss and growl, the second day I took my kitten to interact in the same space my 8 year old cat was and my older cat just followed her around and tried to sniff the kitten butt when he could. it was the third day when they had a big breakthrough when they tried playing with each other through an opening in the back of the dinning room chairs, afterwards the older cat took extremely well to the kitten, not hissing or growling, though the kitten didn't stop till the next day. The day after that they started playing more often and my older cat seems much happier, they are still somewhat unsure of each other and it think my older cat is still trying to figure out how to play with the kitten since he is so much bigger than it but all in all in 5 days they've gone from hissing to eating next to each other.
I though I was going to have a metaphorical blood bath for the first week.

Please understand how to introduce cats properly before bringing a new pet home. Introductions like this have a much higher risk of fighting or injuries, and a higher risk of a pet being returned to the shelter and abandoned all together. The irresponsible nature of people is not cute.

Usually it is not a good idea to throw them together but put one in a room so the other one can smell it through the door for awhile and they get use to each others smell. With kittens play brings out fun and sometimes it happens sooner. Amazon car hop trays.

Adoption places and pet stores really need to start handing out pamphlets on how to introduce cats, because this ain't it!

With the way these clueless owners introduced them to each other at the start it's lucky they both got on by the end, even after weeks/months/years sometimes it just doesn't work out like that. Nobody should follow the way it was done in this video.

I'm glad I dropped my new kitten in my living room with my 6 year old male maine Coone 2 year old female tortie. The kitten instantly pair bonded with the male. They all became best friends after 20 mins of smelling to chasing each other.

This brought tears to my eyes. Cosmo looks just like my boy I lost in October... But my faísca's eyes were vibrant green. These 2 will be best friends for life now. Adorable

I remember when my oldest cat hated the new kitten and the kitten only wanted to play but they ended cleaning each other playing together sleeping together the first few days is usually when the oldest seems like he hates the new one but they end up loving each other
