Dad was a Vietnam aviator said this comic always inspired him. He wasn’ the smartest but made it to the top of his flight class. Come to find out later he was a huge Howard Hughes fan. And then me being a combat photographer I finally get it
ОтветитьDriving home from work today as a 33 year old adult, and listening to this brought me back to my childhood, watching this movie in the 90s
ОтветитьI work in a school as an outside contracted counselor. Heard the music while in the hall and thought, “wait…is that The Rocketeer?” I saw it maybe three times when I was a child. Maybe 7 or 8 years old. The theme is so distinctive I at least had an inkling 30 years later. Well done James Horner.
ОтветитьI miss when movies were just the right amount of camp and action.
ОтветитьA time when i felt the good, and purity of the stories in disney and not a political message or agenda. Thank you
ОтветитьI've always known, if I'm ever strapped into a real jetpack, and I'm looking up at where I'm about to go in the sky, before I push the trigger, this will play in my mind.
ОтветитьI was singing this yesterday and I couldn't quite place where I had heard it. I knew it dealt with flight. At first I thought "the right stuff." The I thought "forever young." Luckily I searched this movie first. What a great theme.
ОтветитьForget red bull. James Horner gives us Wings!
ОтветитьI was asked to write a foreword for a book about The Rocketeer soundtrack. Even though I can hum every note of the main title from memory I felt I should listen to it one more time. I am now sitting here in awe of James Horner's immense talent and his ability to capture the visceral essence of the freedom of flight in a handful of notes. I wipe away a tear every time I hear this beautiful piece of music. Thank you, James.
ОтветитьJust rewatched this movie in the theater and the score was the highlight. Easily one of Horner's best. Those low bass notes and brass emphasizing the general melody make chills every time. Romantic, exciting and identifiable. Modern scores lack such humility and warmth.
ОтветитьI hear this song playing and then I reminisce the simpler times as a kid and full of wonder.🥲
ОтветитьRest well Alan Arkin. Peevy will live on in our hearts.
ОтветитьRIP, Alan Arkin.
You made all of us believe we could fly.
Had to come hear and pay respects to the dearly departed Alan Arkin aka Peavy. This one got me in the feels, such a great actor and such an illustrious career. Rest easy 🙏🏾
ОтветитьOne thing I've always loved about this score..this is flying..no rocket pack required.. This is the romance and thrill of flight..
ОтветитьThis is such a beautiful song.. if there is a Heaven.. I picture this playing at its entrance
ОтветитьForget how good the music score is to this film ... It's up there with the classics I think
ОтветитьThis is for anyone that looks up to the skies, see a aircraft, a bird, or just the sky itself and dreams of the passion of flight. This passion surpasses any generation and should never be extinguished.
ОтветитьI like it. Really sets up the opening scene
ОтветитьAmazing truely wish I had that type of love ♾️☝️
ОтветитьJames Horner a maestro too soon gone. The score he has done including Rocketeer is LEGENDARY
ОтветитьI came here because I thought I had it stuck in my head, but I had The Right Stuff main theme stuck in my head. I didn't realize just how much they sound alike.
ОтветитьI love the opening theme so much.
If I have a new soundbar or speaker system I always pop the DVD in the player and let it rip. Turned up loud of course.
I absolutely love the low brass against the horns against the trumpets.
One of the best opening themes I've ever heard. 👍👍👍🎶
ОтветитьI’d like to make a sequel series, that takes place in the early 1960s. Cliff and Jenny’s son manages to reverse-engineer the famed Rocket Pack, which draws the attention of a Soviet agent looking to take possession in order to further their efforts behind the iron curtain.
There would also be 1940s WWII flashbacks, where Cliff Secord put his persona to use against the Japanese on the pacific front, while part of the United States military as a pilot.
The best part would be Secord’s son donning the original outfit, becoming the latest Rocketeer.
Lets go listen to Tom Sawyer.
ОтветитьMy uncle from New Jersey is a Rocketeer. Got into the space training after Korea. Actually it is my cousin on board.
ОтветитьWould be so cool to see eithed DC Comics or Marvel make the Rocketeer into a superhero. Make more to him.

51.7K subscribers Peevy: [as they bring the Gee Bee out for its maiden flight] "Keep her straight, keep her level. It's your first time up, so don't do anything interesting."
Cliff Secord: "Who, me?"
Peevy: "Yeah, you! And remember, she stalls out at about a hundred. So keep the air speed up. Otherwise, you're gonna be drifting around all over the sky. And if the ailerons start to shimmy..."
Cliff Secord: [interrupts] "Peevy, I have flown a plane or two in my life."
Peevy: "Not like this one, you haven't. This one's... This one's a handful. You sneeze in this thing and you're gonna end up upside-down in the bean field."
[walking past the tail of the Gee Bee, Cliff takes some chewed-up gum from his mouth and puts it on the rudder]
Peevy: "That's fresh paint, dammit!"
Cliff Secord: "You want me to crash?"
Peevy: "Chewing gum ain't gonna keep your butt up in the air."
[Cliff gets into the cockpit of the Gee Bee]
Peevy: "You treat her nice, Clifford. She's gonna take us all the way to the nationals."
Cliff Secord: "Let's make some history."

Still some of the most epic flying music I can think of.
ОтветитьOne a my favourites
ОтветитьThose bygone times when having a movie experience was worth couples of bucks and an elevated spirit after hearing the score)
ОтветитьTime to jet off to Adventure! -Jetman Jones
ОтветитьAbsolute favorite score of all time.
ОтветитьI swear to god, Disney ripped the Rocketeer Theme off to use as Hera Soars on the Star Wars Rebels soundtrack. Or at least was very much inspired by it.
ОтветитьI must have been about 7 when I first saw the Rocketeer, and the scene where Clint reveals to Valentine that Sinclair is a Nazi, and he turns on him and says "I may not make an honest buck, but I'm 100% American, and I don't work for no stinkin' Nazi!" was the first time in any movie or TV show, where I saw the "even bad guys have standards" trope, which has always stuck with me. So thans Rocketeer for introducing me to villains with complex motives and personalities.

ОтветитьWhen Disney made movies, not political statements. A phenomenal cast, Jennifer Connolly so very beautiful.
ОтветитьAllow me to be the millionth pilot to say… This piece is the distillation of what aviation feels like. Drink it in!
ОтветитьThis song has been playing in my head for weeks and I couldn't get anyone to recognize it. Finally it hit me today it was from one of my favorite movies as a kid that I completely forgot existed. Turns out not only is it on Disney+ right now, but they've got a sequel in the works! Can't wait! Thanks for the nostalgia. This music is making me tear up while I grin right now
ОтветитьWhat an awesome throwback. One of my favorite movies and themes. Always love a good classic serial nod w good guys, beautiful dames and well-written/acted villains. Thank you, James Horner, you made the movie go from entertaining to cinematic with these noble notes.
ОтветитьGoosebumps....Every.Single.Time
Ответить"HEY WATCH THIS PEEVY."
ОтветитьWent to a concert tonight given by the Northwest indiana symphony orchestra and they played the music from Rocketeer and gave a tribute to the composer. Beautiful music.
ОтветитьMy husband and I walked down the aisle to this on our wedding day. Still makes my breath catch 10 years later.
