I've got a Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s with P90s. Fantastic guitar and only 8.2 lbs.

Im really not a fan of what Gibson has done with the naming of their pickups. For years you had the Burstbucker 1 and 2, and then you had Burstbucker Pros. Now youve got the Burstbucker 61 or whatever, and others and it just seems like a bunch of muddy water. I LOVED the Burstbucker Pros that were in my Les Paul for many years until I sold the guitar. Now ive got another Les Paul and im really not sure where they all fall in together. How do the 60s Burstbuckers compare to the older Pros? etc........

Additionally, to pay $2500 for a guitar in 2023 and not get locking tuners is a major annoyance. Sorry man I totally get that they got back to just a basic, solid Les Paul and all but they couldve used Grover locking tuners and not affected the nostalgia. Thats a non-negotiable for me. I havent owned a guitar without them in almost 20 years.

All that said, im really happy Gibson just got back to what made this guitar great to begin with. I just order the Les Paul Standard 60s Faded and cant wait to get it in. I never wanted coil taps, or PCBs inside the body, or robot tuners. My 2001 Les Paul i kept for 17 years was simple, elegant and just played and sounded great. Not once did I ever think man I wish this guitar sounded like a Strat. I just picked up my damn Strat. So kudos Gibson. I can let the minor quibbles go. These guitars are great. I will however swap the tuners out on day 1. lol

I’ve played a 20 yr old Sg (got new back in early/mid 2000’s, for a gift/1st brand name guitar, got very lucky. Has 60. Neck 490r/498t, the grain of wood and feel and sound is great! Love it). ;
But seeing ive always loved LP’s & 20 yrs wirh my orginal axe, saw gibson went back to old school for new (2023 standards), i went for the 60s model burst, it looks great, feels good but different around heel lol), Big question is due to having spent a pretty $ on this brand new 60’s LP standard burst…im familar with 61 (or sny burstbuckers), i assumed the 490/498t was a very close model to the classic rock PAF

It was so tough for me deciding between a 50's or 60's. The 50's sounds like it has a bit more bite but the 60's has a slimmer neck and it felt easier to scale on. Ended up going with the 60's Iced Tea, they're both amazing, it's all I think about now I give it more love than my girlfriend

Good morning I've been wanting a Gibson standard are classic for a long time my favorite colors are the gold top are the honeyburst but then I got cancer in 2020 been dealing with that for a while the medicines and things got expensive so I don't know if it's ever going to happen but I'm hopeful and I will have one one day to go with some other guitars I have but those are one of the ones that is missing in my collection right now I have a fender Stratocaster and the guild Starfire and EVH and the Wolfgang but it will not be complete without Gibson Les Paul but they just keep going up in price so hopefully I will be able to get one one day so enough about my sad story you guys had some awesome playing their enjoyed the video I know it's 3 years late but better late than never lol🤘🎸

Hi guys. 2022 now. I really like when you demo guitars "clean" without pedals so we can hear what the guitars actually sound like. Most everyone's on line demos use too many pedals and we never get to really hear and enjoy the actual sound of the guitars. With and without reverb is a good choice, but with pedals also. These are beautiful and great sounding Gibson's. Your playing is always wonderful and enjoyable to hear. Thank You again from Mobile, Alabama.

I love these guitars. Exactly how I think a standard should be. I have a 2014 standard and it doesn’t at all feel standard. No pick guard, push/ pull knobs, a black nut, 120th anniversary inlay on the 12th, and robot tuners. Personally I really like the anniversary inlay and the push/ pull knobs I couldn’t live without. However no pick guard, black nut, and robot tuners!? I’m going to change it all.

How would the 60s 2022 compare to the 2012 standard?

The 50 sound is more compressed.

I just got my 60’s AAA incredible, Gibson hit the mark on these.

I had an 80's Les Paul Custom gold hardware and beautiful black finish, I never see them anymore.

After watching this video about 5 times deliberating I finally went to my local music store and bought the 60s bourbon burst. Absolutely fantastic color that must be seen in person. The camera doesn't do it justice

I don't mind about the linguage the papers is talkinlg about. I just love the US guitar's. Thats all.
