Can it be used on Sony E-mount camera with adapter?
ОтветитьIt's really not a question if you can't afford a Canon or Nikon lens.. The Question is what do you do with your photos? If it is a fun hobby for you and you mostly post your photos online, why spend a thousand more dollars for a little better quality? Asking for a friend...
ОтветитьHow can IQ be better at the edges respect to the front at 200mm ???? ( In fact on FF sensor the center is better..)
There is something seriously wrong here !!!!
Wrong test !
I expected more from someone like you
Hi Chris. Why didn't you test this also on APS-C like usual?
ОтветитьI sold this in the end, though image quality is amazing it’s just too heavy for general use and it just gets left at home all the time. Also the focus breathing is a bit much for video work TBH
ОтветитьIf i want to attach this to my sony a7r5, which specific adapter do i need to get? Will the autofocus still work?
ОтветитьPlease sigma do a DG DN new version of this lens for Sony w mount
ОтветитьDoes its weight bother you? (1.8kg or almost 4 pounds)
ОтветитьAmateur here, is it odd that a manufacturer has a non removable tripod foot? Or is it fairly common?
Ответить1.8kg that's really too much😢
ОтветитьBro! Thank you so much for this review!
ОтветитьI hope Chris will make a video comparing 70-200mm lens.
ОтветитьWill it work well with canon rp?
ОтветитьYou don't use this lens for portraits!! that is 50-100mm lenses this lens is for sports photography and fast moving subjects.
ОтветитьHi Chris.
It would be great if you made a Canon EF 2.8 70-200 comparison, looking at the Canon i, ii and iii and the Tamron G2 and the Sigma Sport and maybe even their older cersions.
The Tamron and Sigma can be found around 400€ second hand, the Canon i and ii secong hand around 750 and 900€. Are the older Tamrons and Sigma s good starting points? Is an older Canon comparable to the newest Sigma and Tamron? And is the newest Canon worth its cost? Would be great!!
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to do this review... thank you!
ОтветитьI realize this may not be the best place to ask a question but - Using this lens on an APS-C body it becomes a 112-320mm (1.6x crop for Canon R7) , but does that also mean the aperture also goes up from f/2.8 to ~f/4.5?
ОтветитьI do like heavy lenses/camera's and so on, as I am used to them.
ОтветитьI've once had a 70-200 lens but sold it. I just didn't find any use for it for my work.
ОтветитьAwesome video yet again :)
ОтветитьHow is performance on Canon R7?
ОтветитьGiven that Tamron have released a number of really top lenses in the last several years', with apparently excellent image stabilisation, I wonder how the 2 compare?
Am a long standing Sigma fan, the potentially heavy weight is offset by the other very positive features of the lens ++ the cost of the new Canon RF equivalent is simply out of my reach, and Canon has made it very clear, in the last week or so, that not only will it not open it's RF system to 3rd parties, but is actively engaged in taking action, I think against Rokinnon- this has had pretty wide press.
Why have all the 70-200 lenses moved the zoom ring to the far end of the lens? Dumb! It's fatiguing during long shoots and easy to accidentally hit the focus ring because your hand brushes against it.... be real, most photographers use autofocus, therefore that ring is seldom used... so move it away from the camera body and put the zoom ring close in.
ОтветитьSigma is seriously dragging their feet on the 70-200 f/2.8 DG DN ART. If they do not announce by end of year, i’m getting the G Master version 2. Folks can only hold out for so long.
ОтветитьI bought my sigma sport when I bought a Nikon d750. I also bought the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2 that day. I couldn't afford to buy the Nikon lenses since I was buying the camera and 2 lenses. I now shoot with a z6 II. At some point I do want to buy a new Nikon version but there's other lenses on my list to buy first. There is definitely ficus breathing with this lens and the Tamron lens I mentioned. Especially at 200mm. If you ever focus stack your images you will need to leave plenty of room around the edges so when Photoshop stacks the images you will have room to crop. The images will not align perfectly because of the focus breathing. The Nikon Z lenses have very little if any focus breathing.
Ответитьhow about compare with ef70 200 f2.8 iii ?
ОтветитьBought this when it first came out in Nikon F Mount. Adapts well to the Nikon Z and I think it still holds up amazingly. Have used for video work from time to time, too and yes focus breathing is annoying but overall very usable.
Ответитьthis lens is needed for E-mount !
ОтветитьNikon 70-200 vr ii bro ☺️
ОтветитьGot this one for 6months now, by far my favorite lens !
ОтветитьI love my sigma 70-200 s. Took amazing photos that were crisp of my kids football game. I had to do some minor adjustments for focus due to back focusing. I also set up a custom function and increased the focus speed via sigma dock. Works like a charm for 1300. Can't beat this
ОтветитьThis or Tamron SP 70-200 f2.8 VC G2? Thank you
ОтветитьThis lens has...."Staying Power."
ОтветитьI served as a Combat Camera and this lens was on my camera 80% of the time, my co-worker and I called using it "easy mode" because of how good it is. We always said it has "no right being as sharp as it is" man I miss that beast.
ОтветитьIn the video, it looks a bit like the zoom ring is rather stiff to turn, but regarding its behaviour nothing is mentioned in the video. Can anyone tell whether it turns smoothly or not?
ОтветитьYou can use the term "press photographer" instead of "reportage photographer".
Great vid
I've owned this lens for around 2 years. It's bokeh is really good, but yes it is heavy. But the lifespan of this lens is likely longer than your photography hobby will last because it's built like a tank.
ОтветитьBought this lens a few months Back for my Canon 90D. It's an amazingly Sharp and very heavy lens.
ОтветитьI used to own this lens before moving to Fuji from Nikon F. Razor sharp, but it weighs a ton!
Ответитьlol i thought the new 70200 dg dn out
ОтветитьI am very impressed that you are reading Apostle John’s Gospel in Greek and to be precise in ancient Greek!
ОтветитьThank you for an interesting review. Sigma's modern efforts put pressure on the big camera lines to make quality products at reasonable prices. I have some modern Sigma lenses (not this one) and I do like them. They are the main reason I kept my Canon M.
ОтветитьChris, why haven't you reviewed the Canon 70-200 2.8 L Series III?
ОтветитьIt was either this lens or the Canon 70-200 2.8 version 3 for me. I ended up going with the Canon and I cannot express how great of a lens that Canon lens is! It is other worldly! Spend the extra money, and get the Canon!!
ОтветитьAnother fantastic review thanks Christopher,, just bought on you review and I'm very happy with the lens. Thanks
Ответитьwheres the Sony 70-200 f/2.8GM II?
ОтветитьWonder, when/if Canon will open up the RF system to Sigma, Tamron and other third party lens manufacturers.
I hear contrary calls that Canon has to recoup it's R and D costs for the higher end glass. The only problem is that very few people, other than very well heeled hobbyists, or true pros can afford the higher end/L series RF glass.
the lens in this range i ended up with was sigma's older 50-150mm ƒ/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO, i say in this range as i'm on canon M50, i specifically wanted a faster zoom that started at 50mm,
apon discovering of its existence and learning about it, to which i was surprised you havent had one on the channel yet i headed of to ebay and found a still in its box brand new one several months ago, what a lovely find, all for £450
as sharp as a lemon with a flick knife and around the same weight and size as the sigma 100-400mm c its been a great lens,
i think at the time i was looking for a faster medium range zoom i was considering a second hand 70-200mm canon II, it was nearly my first canon EF lens out of the 18 or so i have collected in nearly 3 years of smudging, also sigma came to the pop again, beating the others on price and the wider 50mm i was after.
Chris, how long do you typically need a lens for like this for review / testing?
