Ответитьalternative title: brief overview of math rock
Ответить8/8 and 16/16 is useful for understanding changing time signatures in certain songs. Dance of eternity has a section with changing 16 times with the odd bar of 16/16 because its easier to digest in that context rather than seeing 4/4 written between a bar of 11/16 and 13/16.
ОтветитьThere's a Cake song I heard that I believe is in 8/8, and it has an accent on the 7th beat that gives it an interesting sound. 8/8 can basically sound like 4/4, but it gives you lots of room to add in strange or unexpected things.
ОтветитьThe hat is a witch's hat
ОтветитьI'm a drummer myself and can mostly only play the common time signatures: 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8. Some of those other ones surprisingly don't sound that hard. I had no idea The Crunge was in 9/8. Wow, John Bonham was amazing.
Ответитьhahaha, love the subtle nod to Bojack Horseman
ОтветитьAs soon as I heard the whiplash beat i was worried he was going to get screamed at.
Ответитьthank you harry potter
ОтветитьYou're a Harry, wizard!
ОтветитьThere's a question on stack exchange that asks 4/4 vs 8/8 the top 2 answers make pretty good cases on how to differentiate between the two
ОтветитьRemember NEVER blame the drummer 🥁 for “bad timing ⏱️” because sometimes the most sloppiest 🎸 guitarists will blame the drummer for “bad timing ⏱️.” I speak from personal experience, intermediate 🎸 players in BOTH worship bands I played for AND a Blackened Death Metal band ALL said I sucked at timing ⏱️. Nope it’s also the guitarists and bass player that should be in time as well.
Edited: I forgot to add that my Music Therapist whose a PROFESSIONAL said I had good timing ⏱️. Telling a drummer 🥁 he has “bad timing ⏱️” is NOT telling the drummer 🥁 “you need to work on your timing ⏱️!” It’s telling the drummer 🥁 “You’re not playing in the timing ⏱️I want you to play in.”
8/8 time is split into groups of 3/8 and 2/8, so when you play a song in 8/8 with the correct feel it should be counted as 6/8 + 2/8

ОтветитьStill can't believe my Skyrim character is playing drum
Ответить100/100 for the bojack reference wth 😂
Ответитьwhere 6/4?
ОтветитьDid anyone write a song in 8/8 yet?
ОтветитьLove the bojack reference
ОтветитьNo respect for 7/8, I can’t believe it
Ответитьjoseph gordon levitt
ОтветитьI got lost almost immediately -- not his fault, I'm not a drummer..I just found it interesting
ОтветитьYou’re great, man.
ОтветитьThe hey Yah example is not so clear to me. As the structure is 3 bars of 4/4 a bar of 2/4 and a bar of 4/4, which is pretty unusual for a pop song and most people just think it's 4/4 al the way through.
ОтветитьLove the vid, but I play guitar. This is none of my business lol.
Ответитьsorry, I dont get the pattern. just sounds arbitrary. which im pretty sure it is.
ОтветитьThe whiplash beat gave me flashbacks to that movie. I get nervous when I hear it.
Ответить2/2 is a mistake, is 2/4...
ОтветитьThe 6/8 beat was sad
ОтветитьAt first I really thought I was crazy, but he actually did play the intro drum roll from "Hello I love you" by The Doors at the end of the video. Please someone tell me that was on purpose. Or is that drum roll just a common drummer thing?
ОтветитьThanks 🙏
ОтветитьI usually can’t watch videos this long but this is really entertaining and helpful thank you
ОтветитьThis could have been easily a 5-8min video.
