Thank you! I just did this. I rescued Erick and then went back into the ship and took out ecliptic. I didn't save just to be sure I could still get him. She said she was happy to have the ship and Erick back so I quickly fast traveled to the entrance of Cydonia. Erick was walking down the ramp and I was able to speak to him and recruit him. When I spoke to her again she said she was bummed to lose Erick but grateful she didn't have to start over. It is nice learning about missable quests, loot, and crew.

what if you saved the ship, moved on from this quest and are now trying to recruit him? can he still be found?

I wouldn't call him one of the best because of those weak skills but nice on figuring out he is recruitable.

Another reason to get Eric is he is morally neutral unlike MS companions who get upset if you "murder" pirates during ship boarding. Another fun BH companion is Betty Howser if you want a demo focused companion. I gave her a Bridger and she used it like an explosive sniper rifle.

Your skipping the dialogue makes it very difficult to follow what ones to select. omg does it really take that much longer to let them speak for a moment

Does he have a personal quest? Is there anything that makes him good? No, astrodynamics is NOT a valid answer, as long as there is no survival mode it is the most useless skill ever.

Sarah and Sam have the same skills he does, but better.

like 2 crew with payload or i also have payload skill,
is it gonna stack? or the game gonna pick 1 of the best like level 3 payload and ignore others level 1 payload?

If you can't get Erick because you completed this quest in a way where Jane keeps him, you can do the following.

Open the console command and type in: setstage 196bae 1
Then talk to him and he will be recruitable.

If Erick isn't at Jane's shop leaning on the counter, it most likely means he's bugged, like he was in my game. When I teleported to him, he was still in the Berry Mule for some reason and was mute. So type the following command while standing at the shop: prid 22198c
And then: moveto player

This should bring him to you and will make him speak again. The simply write the setstage command mentioned above and recruit him.

Ship skills dont stack, and the constellation members have better versions of both those skills.

Nice if you don't want to use constellation members for some reason i suppose (like to cut down the incessant chattering)

As for the spoiler bit, just take andreas as your companion in the beginning so she'll have the highest affinity. That means you can "pick" her as the constellation member for er, you know what.

"One of the best", sure, he's on the top 50 list I guess. He's mid at best, only two skills and not even any above rank 2. Sarah already has one of his skills but at rank 4.

Still not convinced why it was so important to recruit him. Stat wise, he's completely replaceable, you're better off just using all the Constellation members

You can choose who dies by switching companions and choosing where to go, you can also build custom ships that can jump across the whole galaxy in one jump, ao thos isn't vital ✌️

I found 2 better crew members. My opinion they are better. I got 1 that has 2 ship partical beam weapons and 2 sheilds, the other one has 2 ship ballistics and 2 engineering.

I never did Hail the Berry Mule but just boarded her and persuaded them to give me the ship and Erick. Surprised me!

Sam Coal gives a better payload skill buff and Sarah gives way better astrodynamics skill.

You do know Sam (if you can tolerate him) has the payload skill as well and Sarah has aerodynamics... in case others couldn't get to cydonia right away. I just hire my crew because the Constellation folks are annoying asf when it comes to OMG YOU OPENED FIRE ON A SHIP THAT SHOT AT YOU 🥴 So I just find people with all 3 qualities and boom welcome aboard with my adoring fan and Vasco.
