THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE BETTER. SO THERE IS NO POINT IN TRYING TO COMPETE OR PROVE YOU ARE THEE ABSOLUTE ONLY BEST IN ANY THING! i think I've done enough BJJ now to start to understand why Roger was so good. Essentially he keeps it simple. But he does it in sucvh a way that peoples fancier moves just don't count, they may work in theory but Roger simply didn't let people go down the path they wanted to. In addition he doesn't rely on deception or surprise, which makes Ju jitsu so much simpler and means you can concentrate much more on unstoppable technique. You will of course surprise people if you become experienced, quick and efficient but its never a main aim. For example in this fight there is no grip fight when he takes the back, transfers from hooks to body triangle so no option to fight the hooks and roll. He just doesn't do the You've learned X, i've learned X+1 thing, he just goes straight to Z, slowly , methodically. What he does though is learn the Z move for every scenario, make it better and drill it until its in his blood. Thats only probably 20 moves though.
