How come some people use buttermilk but you use whole fat milk? I mean I trust your opinion over theirs but I was wondering I feel like buttermilk might make the taste too sour. I’m new to baking but I’ve been watching you for years so I was just curious.

ОтветитьI followed this recipe twice. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. My cake is going great in the oven then all of a sudden the middle falls. Appreciate any guidance. I’m using the same amount of ingredients, same process, but still falling in the middle 😢

ОтветитьDoes anyone have measurements for making a 3.5 pound batch? I tried converting to grams, but the conversions I'm getting from doing cups --> grams on google is getting me a number less that what is shown on the conversion chart for 3 pounds (375 while google is showing around 364). Which number do I shoot for or does someone have the exact numbers for 3.5 pounds? I want to make my cakes in a 9 inch pan, which on the conversion chart shows 3.5 pounds, but I guess I could try doing 3.75 which would be much easier conversions using just cups. My question then is if the 3" tall 9" cake pan would be big enough for the .25 pounds more that I would be adding (or I could just eat the extra 2.5 hehe). Thanks for any help anyone could give.

ОтветитьI tried the recipe! It taste so good! I think pure vanilla extract will make a huge difference. Room temperature butter is a must. I love it thank you.
ОтветитьGreat Video with clearly explained steps . I used natural vanilla beans for this cake which gave me more natural vanilla flavor. Absolutely big difference to using vanilla extract and use scrapped seeds from Vanilla. I bought beans from eBay, (a seller called "purevanillabeans" ). 1Kg for $270 which was so cheap compared to others. Like to propose other friends to try this recipe with vanilla beans (Grade A Sri Lanka Vanilla beans I used)

ОтветитьFavorite cake recipe for a while, and never had problems before UNTIL, I tried making it in 3 inch tall 9 inch diameter pans for the first time. Previously I had done 3 high 10 diameter pans for 1 hour 20 min, and 2 high 8 diameter pans for 45 min, and they worked fine. I just tried with the 9 inch pans for 1 hour 10 min (turning the pans around after 35 minutes), like her conversion chart shows on her website, and after letting them cool, taking them out of the pan, and letting them cool a little longer, I finally starting leveling them and the inside was very undercooked. The toothpicks came out completely clean. Is there a way to save these cakes? And for the future, is there a different temperature/time I should do for these pans, or a way for this to not happen in the future? Thanks!

Bakers from the 1700s: You want about a fistful of this, not your fist, my fist, a few eggs and milk until it looks loose enough and bake it until it's ready in a warm oven, not too hot.
